A new game is not only well on its way to becoming a candidate for Game of the Year 2025, but it also already has a well-known supporter and fan who is already convinced. Those who want to test it for themselves can do so on Steam, with PS Plus, or the Game Pass.
Which game is being talked about? It is the puzzle game “Blue Prince” from Studio Dogubomb, which has already impressed critics: On Metacritic, the game received a whopping 92 out of 100 points and is therefore considered a “Must-Play.” In the game, you strategize your way through changing corridors and rooms, explore a mysterious estate, and try to uncover the secrets of the location (via Steam).
“It’s an endlessly captivating labyrinth full of twists and turns, with a world that crawls into your head and refuses to leave until you have finally uncovered its final secrets,” reads a review from GAMINGbible (via Metacritic).
Gamers Heroes states in their review (via Metacritic): “The mysterious estate in Blue Prince invites exploration and offers a unique puzzle experience in the gaming world.”
But another prominent figure in the gaming industry also has their own opinion on the surprise hit.

Blue Prince already has well-known supporters
Who is already a fan? LocalThunk, the creator of the gaming hit Balatro, expressed his respect for the game and its rating in a post on X. Here, he directly addresses the producer of the Game Awards, Geoff Keighley:
Geoff, my friend, I hope that Blue Prince is nominated for GOTY (Game of the Year) at this year’s Game Awards!
But seriously: Read every review of this game. The first commercial release of the studio! I am happy for them.

Balatro was itself a surprise hit of last year 2024 and managed to be nominated for Game of the Year even as a title from a small studio. A nice gesture from an indie developer, showing that indie games also deserve mainstream attention.
How does the producer of the Game Awards respond? Geoff Keighley did not leave the kind but still demanding opinion of the Balatro developer unanswered, as he has already noticed the potential of Blue Prince. He responded the same day: “Great game, I have been following it for a while.”

If the opinions of the critics, as well as those of LocalThunk and Geoff Keighley, have piqued your curiosity, you can start playing Blue Prince on Steam, in the Game Pass, or PS Plus starting today, April 10, 2025.
