The people responsible for New World will release a new version of their game called New World Aeternum on October 15, 2024. While most changes are targeted at new players, one feature could potentially also provide long-term enjoyment for veterans.
Which feature could excite the veterans? The developers want to bring fresh air to New World again, and therefore are releasing a significantly expanded version of the MMORPG with Aeternum on October 15, 2024. The title will also be released for PS5 and Xbox for the first time and particularly aims at new players who should experience an improved gaming experience from the very beginning.
However, the new version should also be appealing for veterans. Because despite the “Action-RPG” label from Amazon, New World Aeternum remains an MMORPG. Several journalists have now had the opportunity to test the new PvP zone at an official event and share what awaits you there.
Here is the trailer for New World Aeternum:
Can the new version convince?
Where is the new PvP zone? Last week, some selected individuals had the chance to thoroughly test the endgame content of New World Aeternum. The new content of the PvP zone could also excite long-time PC players and bring them back, according to the prevailing sentiment of the experience report on mmorpg.com.
The already known region “Cutlass Keys” has been adjusted and declared the new PvP zone. Additionally, the island has been significantly enlarged. During an interview at the event, Creative Director David Verfaillie revealed:
It is worth mentioning that we have added a large area here. […] I mean, you can overlay the current map with the old one and you will see that we have added a lot of area.
The PvP area is therefore quite large and oriented from east to west. And as you can see, two things happen when you go further west: on the one hand, the content becomes a little more difficult, and on the other hand, you are farther away from the exit. It becomes increasingly risky.

How does the PvP zone bring back old veterans? During the event, journalists were dropped at various locations in “Cutlass Keys”. The first thing that the editor from mmorpg.com noticed was that he could still mark for PvE. Large parts of the island are still open to PvP skeptics. Existing elements, like the fort, have been retained.
It only becomes dangerous when you dive into the cursed fog. Once you have entered the fog, the factions no longer matter, and you will be marked for PvP, even if you do not want to be.
There, a wonderfully chaotic PvP experience broke out among the participating journalists and developers, catapulting all players from one dangerous situation to the next. But danger does not only come from opponents. In a new area called Blitzfelder, lightning constantly struck the fighters, disrupting them from the random strikes.
By the way, you cannot form groups in the new zone. Nevertheless, during the event, there were repeatedly brief alliances between players, which could just as quickly be broken. This uncertainty keeps the adrenaline high.
Defeated characters drop loot in the zone. Thus, even players who are not interested in PvP could be lured into the PvP zone just to dive into the area to collect the additional rewards.
The final conclusion of the editor from mmorpg.com: A PvP skeptic surprisingly had a lot of fun in the chaotic PvP battles on the island. Perhaps other experienced Aeternum heroes will also take a liking to the new PvP zone and be lured back to the servers for the long term.
In addition to the new PvP zone, a fresh 10-player raid and new single challenges are also expanding the endgame. If you want to know more about New World: Aeternum, check here: Don’t worry, New World Aeternum is still an MMORPG, and a good one, even on PS5 and Xbox.
