As part of an April Fool’s joke, Blizzard has introduced a new boss in Diablo 4. Fans are now faced with a completely new challenge and are already mourning the event.
What kind of boss is this? On April 1, 2026, Blizzard introduced a new world boss to the game, which appears every few hours at well-known spots in Sanctuary. This is Hä’nar the Hell Rooster (English: “Chi’Khan”), who is only available for a limited time. Those who defeat the rooster can look forward to special items.
Blizzard recently released statistics on how many heroes Chi’Khan has defeated. Fans report in this context how much the chicken is giving them trouble – and how much they are celebrating exactly that.
Players lose heroes due to an April Fool’s joke
This is what players say about the boss: On Reddit, there is a discussion about how many characters Chi’Khan has already taken down. This includes over 150 hardcore players who have lost their heroes in the battle against the world boss forever.
A player reports that he had to fight the boss alone because everyone else left the fight while he briefly teleported to the city. He then defeated Chi’Khan. That was the most intense boss fight he has experienced in Diablo 4.
In the comments, many take it with humor. One user writes that dying due to an April Fool’s joke in hardcore mode at least makes for a good story. Others note that they normally have no issues with world bosses on Torment 4, but this chicken is a whole different ballgame.
In another Reddit post, many fans note that they have never seen so many player characters die as with Chi’Khan. Overall, the event and the boss seem to be well received in the community.

What is Blizzard showing now? In the past, events in Diablo 4 have not always been well received. They were often too short, offered too little incentive or were simply chaotic. The current April Fool’s event scores on various counts:
