For some time now, various animes have been available on the streaming platform Disney+. However, this year, a new anime that is officially connected to the Disney universe will also be released. A normal guy suddenly finds himself in a world inspired by classic villains.
What anime is it about? Twisted Wonderland is actually a Japan-exclusive mobile game that was released in 2020. Just a year later, the manga followed, and now, in 2025, an anime adaptation is set to follow.
The protagonist of the series lands in another world full of magic through a mysterious mirror. He suddenly finds himself in a school full of wizards, divided into different houses. Instead of Hogwarts with Slytherin or Gryffindor, there are houses based on Disney villains like Scar or Jafar.

An Isekai Anime with Disney Influence
What kind of anime is Twisted Wonderland? Although it has an isekai premise, the setting is strongly reminiscent of Hogwarts. This is not only due to the magical school but also because of the division into houses. The different houses are based on villains from classic Disney films. Among them are figures like Scar from The Lion King, Ursula from The Little Mermaid, or Jafar from Aladdin.
Anime fans might find the designs of the characters familiar, as Yana Toboso is known for that. The manga artist is primarily known for the Black Butler manga. Recently, a new anime season of that series was also released, featuring an interesting German pronunciation.
