A seemingly weak mouse family can take out entire teams single-handedly in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet with just one attack. MeinMMO shows what makes them so powerful:
Which Pokémon is it? The Pokémon Famieps (engl.: Maushold) comes from the new games Scarlet and Violet and is a mouse family consisting of three to four small mice. It is the evolution of Zwieps and is a Normal-type Pokémon.
Famieps is not characterized by an exceptionally high strength or speed and does not have a very strong ability. The Pokémon benefits from its signature attacks.
A mouse family plagues opposing trainers
Why is Famieps so strong? The mouse family has an incredibly powerful attack called “Mäuseplage” (engl.: Population Bomb). Mäuseplage has a base power of only 20 and an accuracy of 90%, but it can hit up to 10 times (!).
If the attack actually hits all 10 times, Mäuseplage reaches a total base power of 200. To ensure that you hit with as many instances of Mäuseplage as possible, you can use items like “Großlinse” or “Gezinkter Würfel” to increase accuracy.
Famieps can also have the ability “Technician,” which increases the base power of the attack by 50%, bringing it to 30. Mäuseplage then has a power of 300 – stronger than “Hyper Beam” and “Giga Impact.”
Additionally, Mäuseplage is a STAB attack for Famieps, further increasing its power to 450. If you Teracrystalize Famieps to the Normal type, Mäuseplage even reaches a base power of 600.
Does Famieps have other strengths? Although Famieps’s strength mainly comes from the attack Mäuseplage, the mouse family can learn other attacks that are useful in battle.
Attacks like “Prügler” or “Knirscher,” which allow Famieps to hit Ghost-type Pokémon, as well as “Kugelsaat” to defeat Rock-type opponents, are also available.
With “Aufräumen,” Famieps also has a second signature attack, which allows you to remove the effects of Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and the Delegator, thus providing supportive benefits.

How can you counter Famieps? The easiest and arguably most effective way to defeat an opposing Famieps is with the item Beulenhelm.
If a Pokémon wearing a Beulenhelm is hit by a physical attack, the attacker loses one-sixth of their total HP.
This effect of Beulenhelm is triggered by each of the total 10 possible hits from Mäuseplage, which means Famieps cannot survive more than 7 hits if its opponent is holding the item. In this case, Famieps defeats itself within one turn.
Moreover, Famieps’s strength is largely based on the attack Mäuseplage, and since it is a Normal-type attack, it does not affect Ghost-type Pokémon. Since Famieps does not have exceptionally high stats, you can use strong Ghost-type Pokémon with appropriate attacks as counters.
Is Famieps too strong? For normal gameplay through the story, Famieps is definitely a very strong companion. In competitive Pokémon battles, the mouse family currently performs very well, but not too strong.
The weak stats combined with an opposing Ghost-type Pokémon or a Beulenhelm are too effective as counters to categorize Famieps as “too strong.”
