Nevertheless, the PvP mode has not become more exciting for the broad masses. Many trainers still only watch the mode when a quest requires it.
Has Pokémon GO improved with the update? For hardcore players, definitely, as there is finally something to do again! Also, the XP accumulated over months or even years has finally become useful again.
The big highlight was certainly the level increase. Nevertheless, many of the other new features were also quite good. The Kalos region is likely to bring us more content over the next few months, and the second season is expected to start in early March. There will surely be a lot to discover there too.
One can certainly say that Pokémon GO has improved with GO Beyond. Nevertheless, it has also been noticed that there is indeed justified criticism in some areas. It remains to be seen whether Niantic will respond to this criticism or whether there will continue to be points of complaint in the future.

Pokémon GO 2021 – 8 things that we can already expect in the new year
The GO Beyond update has changed Pokémon GO in many ways. New maximum level, new Pokémon, and new seasons. A month after the release of the update, the question arises: How much has the AR game been changed?
This was GO Beyond: On November 30th, the greatest update of all time in Pokémon GO was launched. With the name GO Beyond, Niantic made many changes:
- The maximum level has been raised to 50 and players have to complete 4 different tasks for each of the 10 new levels.
- Generation 6 has been introduced – First monsters from the Kalos region are now appearing in the game.
- The seasons have been introduced – Every 3 months the theme changes in Pokémon GO, and other monsters appear outside of events more frequently.
- The PvP league has been adjusted – There is a new ranking system and different rewards.
Has Pokémon GO become a better game?
This is what the new maximum level has changed: For hardcore players, there is finally a lot to do again! Those who were already at level 40 for a long time now have to collect XP again or at least complete tasks.
Among the best players in the world, a real race broke out. Who will be the first to reach level 50 and how quickly can some levels be completed?
Meanwhile, hardcore players are stuck at level 48. For this, one must complete tasks for 8 weeks. Those tasks are of course not over yet, so it’s still unclear what awaits players at the last two levels.
For the average players, not much has changed with the level. Those who have not yet reached level 40 actually didn’t notice the level increase.
With the new maximum level came the XL candies, which have definitely caused a stir. Only level 40 players or higher can find these candies, and Pokémon drop them only very rarely. With XL candies, you can continue to level up monsters from level 40 onwards. You need 296 XL candies for level 50, which is indeed tough – especially with rare monsters.
Thus, leveling up Pokémon has become significantly harder due to GO Beyond, and anyone wishing to get a monster to level 50 must catch a lot of the desired specimen.
This is what Generation 6 has changed: The first wave of Generation 6 has arrived in Pokémon GO and immediately stirred some criticism. The monsters were all extremely difficult to catch. The catch rate is so bad that a normal Poké Ball is usually not enough.
Really strong Pokémon from Generation 6 also did not come to the game at first. While the starter Pokémon are available, they are not particularly impressive.
In general, Generation 6 has not changed much, except maybe the stock of ultra balls for some trainers. Nevertheless, it was at least refreshing at the beginning to see new monsters on the screen.
This is what the seasons have changed: The festive season started in early December and fundamentally changed the spawns. Some monsters, such as Kramurx or Rattfratz, no longer appear in the wild. Instead, trash bags are suddenly everywhere, as Unratütox is probably the most common monster in this season.
In general, it can be stated that the introduction of the first season has significantly changed the spawns. It is left to everyone to judge whether the spawns are now really better. There is a bit less variation in the wild, but there are monsters like Unratütox that at least give more stardust per catch.
This is what the PvP mode has changed: For fans of the mode, there was more to discover again. The ranking system is certainly better for some players, as you now rank up more and are rewarded more.
In return, the pool of Pokémon rewards has been significantly enlarged. At times, there were over 15 different monsters as rewards.
In general, the PvP league has improved due to the system. It is more rewarding for all players and provides more rewards.
Nevertheless, the PvP mode has not become more exciting for the broad masses. Many trainers still only watch the mode when a quest requires it.
