The highlights of the week:
- Guild Wars 2 has released End of Dragons and is being inundated with praise. We at MeinMMO are especially excited about the story of the expansion.
- The Asian game Swords of Legends has switched to Free2Play and released a new expansion. The player count on Steam has increased tenfold, reaching nearly 2,800 peak players.
- Elyon, the successor to TERA, has lost over 97% of its players and is now discontinuing support for certain languages. The signals are currently pointing to server shutdown.

Lost Ark and New World bring major updates in March
Here’s what happened with the big MMORPGs:
- Lost Ark has released a new patch with nerfs to dungeons and raids. Additionally, there was a preview of the big March patch, which is expected to bring new content. We have created a guide with tips for the endgame, and the developers themselves have banned over 1 million accounts for botting.
- In WoW, we now know what happens to Anduin at the end of the raid. We have also updated the DPS rankings and the overview of the covenants.
- The developers of Final Fantasy XIV held a new live letter, in which they shared detailed information about Patch 6.1 (via FinalFantasyDojo).
- For fans of Guild Wars 2, we had a new guide to unlocking the Siege Turtle and an overview of the 54 legendary weapons in the game.
- ESO shared new details about the upcoming Update 33. A new equipment set looks really strong. Additionally, hundreds of players protested in the PvP area of Cyrodiil against the war in Ukraine.
Here’s what happened with the small MMORPGs:
- New World released the February patch on Monday, featuring over 100 bug fixes. They also announced a new dungeon and a new weapon for March. The preliminary patch notes also included 5 minor changes that players really appreciated.
- In Tibia Online, players solved a tricky puzzle after 5 years and are now facing the next one.
- The developers of SWTOR apologized for the weak launch of the Legacy of the Sith expansion and promised adjustments in the next smaller patch 7.0.1 on March 22 (via SWTOR).
- The sandbox MMORPG Mortal Online 2 is closing new servers that they had added after the launch drama with long queues (via MassivelyOP).
Here’s what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- With Project F4E, a new co-op game mixing LoL and MMORPGs has been announced on Steam.
