A new MMORPG has appeared on Steam that copies both Diablo and World of Warcraft. It is set to be released in September 2019, but whether that will become reality remains to be seen.
What kind of game is this? The title of the new MMORPG is “Diablo_IslanD” and comes from the apparently independent developer Victor Studio, whose only game on Steam is this one.
The story takes place on a continent that has become an island after a catastrophe, where resources are only available in limited quantities. “Diablo_IslanD” describes itself as a “real adventure island survival game”:
- A round of play is limited to one hour, during which a throne must be occupied.
- There are various treasures that can be excavated.
- Regularly, crates with equipment and gems appear.
- Various monsters roam the area, some of which will require groups to defeat them.
- Whoever dies loses everything.

When is the game supposed to be released? According to the Steam website of the game, the release is already in September 2019, so quite soon. A price is not yet known.
A brazen copy of WoW and Diablo
Here’s how the game copies Blizzard: Not only is the name inspired by the popular Diablo franchise. The HUD is also a quite obvious copy of World of Warcraft and Diablo.
The two spheres on the left and right are classic elements known from Diablo 2. Many of the icons that likely represent abilities or spells will probably seem familiar to players of World of Warcraft.
The world itself also consists of parts that seem to be copied from World of Warcraft. Many of the ground textures look exactly like those older textures that appear in the current nostalgia hype WoW Classic .
Is the game really coming? Just shortly before Diablo_IslanD, a clone from China was shut down because Blizzard sued it.
This suggests that the game has little chance of actually being released. Even if it is released, Blizzard will likely file a lawsuit shortly thereafter. However, anyone hoping for something new from Diablo can look forward to Blizzcon:
