The MMORPG World of Warcraft is currently a huge topic on Twitch due to the guild “OnlyFangs”: Streamers are playing on a hardcore server. But according to Esfand, who expresses his concerns in a conversation with Shroud, things may not be as they should be.
What makes OnlyFangs special: The guild OnlyFangs plays WoW on a hardcore server, but to make the whole experience even tougher and more entertaining for viewers, the guild has imposed some rules on themselves (via reddit):
- Players are not allowed to use the auction house and cannot receive items via mail.
- They cannot trade with players outside the guild and cannot raid with anyone who is not part of OnlyFangs.
- They are not even allowed to use the bank or play any secondary characters until they reach level 60.
Here’s why these rules exist: The rules are intended to prevent large streamers from simply receiving gold and items from fans or being carried through raids, which would compromise fairness. Such acceptance of gifts in WoW is known to be done by Asmongold.
How is this monitored? The rule that you can only use items you or someone in the guild found is monitored via an add-on.
“The number of people cheating is incredibly high”
This is the accusation: The streamer Esfand now says that this very item rule is being disregarded by some guild members. In a conversation, one streamer states that although he is in OnlyFangs, he has bought items from the auction house and accepted gold from strangers. However, he says “Shh”, nobody should know.
But Esfand tells Shroud in their conversation that guild members, when they are not streaming, seemingly engage in this behavior too and simply turn off the monitoring add-on:
The number of people who turn off the add-on, and then accept [items from strangers], is incredibly high. But they talk to no one about it; it’s absolutely crazy.
Esfand says there is even a second Discord server just for people who consciously cheat. He is a spy there and will reveal who is violating the rules.
Even those who are not playing are mocking OnlyFangs
This is noteworthy: Esfand himself has already died 9 times in OnlyFangs and seems fed up with the project. That’s why some are mocking on reddit that he is so bitter because he is no longer participating. When the others raid, Esfand would be standing with his shaman in the Barrens at level 10.
Shroud, with whom he speaks in the clip, is also only level 50 and still far from the maximum level. He is currently playing Marvel Rivals.
People on reddit believe that Esfand is just “salty” because he has died so often. They suggest that what he says shouldn’t be taken too seriously.
What’s behind this: The dream of a Tauren rogue has finally come true in the form of Esfand.
In the comments, drama-loving fans of the guild are rubbing their hands and saying: Esfand should wait until the first raid with his revelation to cause maximum damage. OnlyFangs remains a source of entertainment on Twitch: MMORPG streamer of the year has been playing WoW since 2008, loses duel against noob who has only been playing for 2 months.
