Patrick “Paluten” Mayer is one of the biggest German YouTubers. With his Minecraft let’s play “Freedom”, he captivated many in his community. A film based on this let’s play is set to hit theaters in 2027.
What is Minecraft Freedom? Minecraft Freedom was initially a let’s play by Paluten, which he started in 2016. He played Minecraft and devised a storyline for it.
This mostly came about through spontaneous ideas and was also shaped by his YouTube colleagues, such as GermanLet’sPlay and Zombey. The let’s play was immensely successful; the first episode has, for instance, over 4 million views (via YouTube).
After the project concluded with 382 episodes, it continued with a separate book series. The plots are based on the events of the let’s play and spin their own storylines.

Paluten announces his own Minecraft film
What did the YouTuber present? For the first time during Craft Attack 12, a Minecraft project involving many Twitch streamers, Paluten announced his planned feature film: He explained that the film about Minecraft Freedom is to be released in 2027.
His YouTube colleagues are happy for him, applauding and congratulating him (via YouTube Shorts).
Additionally, Paluten also announced the film on his TikTok channel:
How the community reacts: Jokingly, the YouTuber asks at the end of the video if anyone would want to watch the film. Many enthusiastically comment that they definitely want to see the film.
Additionally, they write their future age in the comments for the year 2027. Many of the commenters are no longer part of the target audience for Paluten, who primarily addresses children with his content. Nevertheless, many comments express that they want to watch the feature film.
One reason for this might be that many grew up with Paluten and his let’s plays, and Minecraft Freedom is a part of their childhood. Watching a feature film that is based on that also relates to nostalgia.
Moreover, some considered the film directly better than the announced Minecraft film. Some comments on TikTok under the video state:
