In the last 365 days, no one had more viewers on Twitch watching League of Legends than the German Frederik “NoWay” Hinteregger (31). In the new season of LoL, he even ranked 2nd in Europe, but now LoL is really getting to him.
How successful is NoWay at LoL? Looking at the last 365 days, NoWay is actually the most successful Twitch streamer in the world for LoL. This is mainly due to the fact that he is on air much more than any comparably large streamer:
- NoWay streamed 3,137 hours of LoL, averaging 12,224 viewers and accumulating 38.35 million hours of watch time
- In 2nd place is the 29-year-old Brazilian Baiano, who has more viewers but streamed only half as often as NoWay, accumulating 31.7 million viewer hours.
- In 3rd place is US hothead Tyler1, who streamed much less in 2023 than in previous years. He gathered “only” 25.3 million viewer hours.
Season in LoL started great and then went downhill fast
How is it going for NoWay? For the German Twitch streamer, the current season in LoL actually started ideally; he rose to Rank 2 in Europe.
At the beginning of the season on January 10, 2024, NoWay won his first 6 games in a row and followed that up with another winning streak of 6: after 14 games, he stood at 12:2.
But currently, that seems to be a distant memory: NoWay is plagued by “losing streaks.”
The 31-year-old has had 2 heavy “minus days”:
- On Sunday, January 14, he lost 7 games in a row
- On Monday and Tuesday, it looked similarly bad: he lost 4 and 5 games in a row, respectively. It’s just not going well.
“Disgusting backseat gaming”
What is his reaction? In a recent video on YouTube, you can see how much the situation is affecting NoWay. He explains it’s his worst season start ever.
And on top of that, he has to listen to his chat constantly telling him how poorly he is playing.
This “backseat” gaming is just disgusting. People tell him to play champion X or Y, do something different, change his entire playstyle, even though he is a very decent player and just needs “teammates with arms.”
NoWay repeatedly emphasizes that while he has a thick skin, he is slowly at his limit. He wonders where all the people in the chat come from who flame him with their first comment:
“I sit here every day for 10 hours for you, and you insult me all the time as soon as a game goes wrong. How can anyone be like that?”
The good news is: Of the last 6 games, he has won 5 in a row. It’s looking up.
