What kind of grandpa is this? A gamer shared a screenshot of his grandfather’s Steam profile on Reddit and wrote that he only plays two games. The post garnered over 47,000 upvotes in 20 hours (as of June 8, 2025, 2:00 PM).
The two games are Fallout 4 and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. In total, he has spent 11,000 hours in these two games. In the strategy game Civilization VI, the senior has invested over 4,300 hours, and in Bethesda’s role-playing game (Fallout 4), he has even spent around 6,750 hours.
In both games, the retiree, who according to some Reddit comments by his grandson is in his 70s, has also achieved numerous achievements – so he really plays and doesn’t just fall asleep in his rocking chair with the game running. However, the grandson himself doesn’t know how he can spend so much time in Fallout 4, as he plays the vanilla version of the game, meaning he avoids mods.
Tips from the Community
What games does the retiree need next? Given the senior’s two favorite games, the community quickly knows which games the gentleman might also enjoy. In the comments, two games stand out in particular as suggestions:
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – also a very popular role-playing game from the Bethesda forge
- Age of Empires – a successful strategy game series
Both suggestions received over a thousand upvotes from the community. Other comments also suggest games like Crusader Kings 3, ENDLESS Legend, or other Fallout games like Part 3 or New Vegas.
Some users have doubts: Some users in the comments believe that the screenshot is from the post creator himself and not from his grandfather, while others think the image was even generated by AI. The latter suspicion is based on the “wrong” appearance of the achievements.
The post creator explained that he upscaled the screenshot with a tool because it was of poor quality. This caused the errors. He later posted the original screenshot with the correct achievements in the comments (via Reddit).
Is the post believable? Overall, the doubts are understandable because it is common on Reddit for false posts to be created. Users then come up with “cool” stories to farm karma points on the platform. However, the authenticity of the story is supported by the fact that the user interacts with other users in the comments and responds to the comments. Karma farmers usually want to collect upvotes without much effort and ignore the comments.
In the comments, other users also show screenshots of older gamers in their families. A 67-year-old father of a commenter has 16,000 hours in Civilization V and 7,000 hours in Fallout 4, a grandpa had 12,000 hours in Borderlands 2.
