A heroine is now a powerful force of nature in Marvel Rivals, whereas just a few weeks ago she was almost completely irrelevant.
Who is it about? Ororo Munroe, aka Storm, has suddenly become a tornado-wielding force of nature in Marvel Rivals, making life particularly difficult for your supporters. The mutant, known from the X-Men comics and films, regained fame in Season 1 after being completely forgotten by players in Season 0.
In Season 1, Storm was among the least played characters. In competitive matches on consoles, she was only played in 1.07% of all encounters, while on PC it was even just 0.69%. However, her win rate was not bad at around 49% on all platforms and was solidly in the midfield.
With the start of Season 1, Storm received several buffs, which immediately affected her pick rate (how often she is played). Storm is now present in 17.4% of all matches and boasts a strong 56.4% win rate, the highest in the entire game (via rivalsmeta.com).
Storm becomes a force of nature
What was buffed on Storm? Storm received several buffs with Season 1. Firstly, the damage and projectile speed of her attack “Wind Blade” (left-click) were increased. Additionally, “Bolt Rush” (right-click) now deals more damage (via MarvelsRivals).
- Projectile speed Wind Blade: From 100m/s to 150m/s
- Damage Wind Blade: from 50 to 55
- Damage Bolt Rush: from 70 to 80
Why is Storm so strong? Storm has various abilities that are very effective – not only her standard attacks, both of which received a buff. Her shift ability “Weather Control” is also very strong, as it can grant her teammates a damage or movement boost. The same goes for her ability “Goddess Boost”.
Storm’s ultimate “Omega Storm” – in which the mutant transforms into a tornado – is also ideal for creating chaos in the backline of the opponents and ideally taking out the supporters.
Since Storm is being played much more after the recent buff and possesses strong abilities, she is currently a nightmare for supporters in her role as a duelist/DPS.
No one knows how to counter her
What does the community say about Storm’s strength? Part of the community suspects that Storm’s newly gained strength, besides the buffs, is primarily due to the fact that almost no one played her before. Players couldn’t learn how to deal with her attacks – and now she is so strong that they feel the consequences.
BookkeeperPercival wrote on Reddit: “I’m pretty sure her win rate is so high because she went from practically unplayed to pretty crazy, and now no one has a clue how to deal with her.”
A player who primarily plays Storm added that it is very difficult to escape Storm’s ultimate (via Reddit). Strategists (supporters) are like a snack for Storm, something that is quickly devoured when they stand close together.
