Players found a quest in World of Warcraft annoying – therefore, it is now being turned into a weekly task with more rewards.
Patch 9.2 Eternity’s End has only been live for a few days, but Blizzard is already making bigger changes to the quest structure. The effort for players and the confusion was simply too great, so the developers are now switching to a clear structure that players are already used to.
Which quest are we talking about? It’s the quest “Patterns Within Patterns”, which players can complete in Zereth Mortis. The quest is a typical meta-quest where you can do many different things to complete it – this includes killing rare enemies, opening treasures, or completing world quests.
What was the problem? Many players felt pressured by the quest to play at certain times. Since this quest appears every 3 days, you have to complete it regularly to stay on track. However, there is only a limited amount of objectives in Zereth Mortis. Treasures and rare enemies respawn infinitely, but they can take a lot of time.
Additionally, a second problem arose that primarily affected players in Europe. The quest had previously lasted for 3 days and reappeared every 3 days – however, the first rhythm lasted only one day. This was because the “reset” of the quest was originally set for the previous Monday. The result was that players could accept the quest on Wednesday (with the patch start) and could already accept it again on Tuesday. Some were pleased with the double completion, while others were annoyed that they hadn’t finished everything by Wednesday, forcing them to tackle progress again.
What is changing now? With the maintenance on the upcoming Wednesday (March 2, 2022), the quest will be changed from a 3-day rhythm to a weekly rhythm. You will be able to accept the quest on Wednesday and have exactly one week to complete it.
As compensation for the fact that the quest is now offered less frequently, the rewards will be increased accordingly. You should therefore experience the same progress as if you had completed the old quest every time it appeared.
In the future, completing the quest “Patterns Within Patterns” will be significantly more intuitive and simpler and will require fewer days of the week.
What do you think of the change? A good step or absolutely unnecessary?
