An “Overwatch Dad” is playing more actively than all of you. He slides wildly in front of the PC to get the most out of it – maybe he is also a bit too deep into the game.
If you want to perform solidly in Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch , you need to focus and be fully engaged. Especially frantic characters like Lucio require full concentration at high levels. However, not many are likely to play as “actively” as this gentleman here. Because he is also getting a workout while playing Overwatch.
What happened? The Twitter user “SalteFreeman” recorded his father playing Overwatch on the PC. He is not sitting still in front of the PC but is fully living the action of the shooter. He leans left and right to better navigate corners, continuously sliding back and forth in his desk chair. Not just a little, but quite a lot. Just take a look for yourself:
Only at the end does the gentleman realize he is being filmed and is a little surprised by it. But he is still satisfied enough with his performance to proudly announce: “Top 4 Finish!” So a place in the top 4, which is counted as a victory in some Overwatch modes (like Deathmatch).
Community loves the father: The clip went viral on Twitter, in the Overwatch community, and partly beyond. With more than 2.6 million views, 150,000 Twitter likes, and over 23,000 retweets, it is clearly one of the biggest Overwatch tweets ever and especially a pretty amusing video. Even the Overwatch League account reacted and asked, “LFT?” – that is, “Looking for Team?” whether he is still looking for a team.
His son added in a later tweet: “I just wanted to clarify: I love my father and he can play however he wants. I understand that he is completely immersed in the game and right in the middle of it. I just believe he could improve a bit more if he had a slightly more focused approach, that’s all I meant by that.”
Maybe his father would really become an even better player – but there seems to be hardly any more movement possible in front of the computer than what this gentleman is doing.
