What is Leave the World Behind about? Parents Amanda and Clay need a break from their stressful city life and decide to take a vacation with their children in a beach house on Long Island.
But then one night, the owners of the property show up at the door seeking shelter in the vacation home because: there has been a widespread power outage in New York, and all electronic devices have failed – even the internet no longer works.
A cyber-attack is announced as the cause of the catastrophe. Soon, the power outage affects not only New York but all of America. Strange things happen, chaos erupts, and fear causes some people to become violent.

The film is based on the bestseller of the same name (in German, it’s called Inmitten der Nacht) by Rumaan Alam.
As fans of the book, former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle are also involved in the project as producers, funding the film through their own production company, Higher Ground.
