Baldur’s Gate 3 gives you huge freedom of choice about what you do in the game and what you don’t – and most of it still somehow leads to an end. A player decided to do something really stupid and discovered a scene that hardly anyone should know about.

This devil saves you:
- Raphael is an important character in Baldur’s Gate 3, whom you encounter early in the game and who appears multiple times throughout the story.
- At the end of the game, you can choose to make a deal with Raphael or fight him. He is considered one of the toughest boss fights in the entire game.
- Somehow, the devil seems to know that you are important all along, as he ensures multiple times that you reach the city.
This is how you get rescued: During Act 1, you will eventually arrive at the Goblin camp. If you don’t just slaughter everything that moves, you can talk to some of the inhabitants – including Priestess Gut.
The Goblin shaman talks to you about the Absolute and puts you through a ritual to join the supposed goddess. If you agree, you receive a potion that knocks you unconscious.
Gut throws you into a dungeon and plans to execute you there. You then have to start a rescue mission with the rest of the party or free yourself. However, if you do not do this or fail, Korrilla, Raphael’s assistant, appears.
Korrilla, whom you later meet again, quickly incinerates your jailers and then frees you with a hint that your master still needs you. A user on Reddit discovered this and it has caused quite a stir.
Larian ensures that even the dumbest decisions turn out well
The user is not the first to discover this secret. Many others comment that they sometimes deliberately make as stupid decisions as possible just to see what happens. One of them even created the barbarian “Bad Decisions Steve” with a glorious mustache for this purpose.
Scenes like the one with Korrilla are called “Failsaves” that Larian has built into the game to ensure that you can still finish Baldur’s Gate 3 even if you really mess up. There are countless such scenes that you only see if you are truly stupid or brutal.
