Red Bull and Formula 1 have teamed up for a new gaming PC. The result costs you over 100,000 euros, for which you can already get a small house in some regions of Germany. What exactly do you get for a gaming system?
Enthusiasts are known to spend a lot of money on a racing system. Some gamers and streamers are indeed known to invest 5-digit sums into their gaming systems, as shown by the 30,000 euro gaming setup of a pro player.
The “Oracle Red Bull Racing RB18 Show Car Simulator” could fulfill some dreams, but it also costs more than 100,000 euros. For that, you can already buy a small house in some regions of Germany (via immowelt.de).
But what do you get for all that money and who is it worth for?
A racing system looks like a real race car
What’s in the system? According to the manufacturer, you get a system that not only looks very similar to a race car but is also produced in the same way (via f1authentics.com). The hardware has been created in collaboration with Oracle Red Bull Racing.
- Curved AOC gaming monitor (AOC AGON AG493UCX2)
- Adjustable gaming pedals
- Dedicated chassis plate
- Official Red Bull Racing livery
- Wheelbase: Simucube 2 Pro
- Steering Wheel: Rexing Formula Wheel Mayaris
- Pedals: Heusinkveld Ultimate+
- Logitech Z623 speakers with THX surround sound
- Dimensions: Length: 4.1m / Width: 1.4m / Height: approx. 1.2m.
- Weight: 160 kg (including hardware).
According to the manufacturer, you also get “the latest gaming hardware” presented with the system. The provider does not get more specific, though. A “OCUK Bespoke PC” is used, built by the British manufacturer “Overclockers UK”, but not specified further.
What does the model cost? You pay 116,387.95 euros for the complete package. Shipping costs are not included yet. These are around 3,000 euros for Europe, which is no small amount.
Since the model is delivered from the UK, a customs fee may also apply. Since Brexit, an import VAT is also due for the UK again (via ihk.muenchen.de), unless the package comes from Northern Ireland.
Is that a lot of money? For most of us, that is a lot of money to spend on such a system. However, in professional circles, it is not uncommon to buy expensive hardware for racing simulators.
Especially due to the Corona pandemic, many users were willing to invest a lot of money in their own systems. If you could no longer go to the real racetrack, then at least your gaming hobby at home should seem as real as possible. Both professionals and wealthy individuals were indeed willing to invest a lot of money:
