Suramar is one of the most beautiful places in World of Warcraft. But this render version pales in comparison to the original.
Players of World of Warcraft often ask the question: What would a WoW 2 look like? How would World of Warcraft look in the Unreal Engine? The past has already provided some examples, such as:
Now, the user lornek on Reddit has taken three days to process the great city of Suramar through various programs.
What is Suramar? Suramar was not only an endgame area of the last expansion “Legion” but also one of the largest story areas Blizzard has ever implemented. Today, Suramar is the starting zone of the Nightborne, an allied race of the Horde.
The end result of lornek’s efforts is the city of the Nightborne in high-resolution quality. Additionally, there are better lighting effects, making Suramar shine in a completely new light.
Not sure why but I just spent like 3 days coding a conversion tool to export WoW into my VFX software package. Still miles to go…but here’s Suramar City. from r/wow
A post reveals that he “doesn’t really know why he spent the last three days importing Suramar”. In the end, it seems to come down to the fact that he “saves it and posts it to be rewarded with internet points”.
If you’re interested in the exact process with numerous work steps, you can find them explained by lornek in our sources. Without the corresponding expertise with the appropriate software, however, it might sound strongly like “cyber gibberish”.
What do you think of this little camera movement over Suramar? Would you like to experience an entire World of Warcraft in enhanced graphics? Or is it exactly the current graphic style that still makes WoW appealing after all these years?
