Factorio excites tens of thousands of players every day. However, the well-known German streamer Trymacs now tells in an anecdote why that can also be dangerous. Because he got totally caught up in the addiction to the game.
What kind of game is this? In Factorio, you build a factory either alone or with other players, extract resources, and automate production. Eventually, you want to build a rocket to leave the planet.
On Steam, the game has thrilled players for years: Even now, tens of thousands of players play the game daily (via steamdb.info). With its new expansion, Factorio even briefly quintupled its player count, and the numbers have now stabilized between 30,000 and 40,000 daily players.
If you look at the recent reviews on Steam, you quickly realize that many reviewers have spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours playing Factorio. However, Twitch streamer Trymacs now explains in an anecdote how severe the addiction to the game can become.
4 days of playing Factorio for 15 hours each: “Bro, that’s crazy addicting”
This is what Trymacs says: In a conversation with Twitch colleague Rumathra, he recounts that he played Factorio for 15 hours each day for 4 days. When he laid down in bed at night, he took his girlfriend’s hand and continued to think about Factorio. His thoughts about the game followed him to bed. He himself says about it: “Bro, that’s crazy addicting.”
The roughly one-minute conversation can be found on YouTube.com. Here he explains:
This is how it happened. You can see here, for example, how absolutely perfectly the conveyor belts take a common curve. After playing Factorio for 15 hours for 4 consecutive days, I laid down beside my girlfriend, took her hand, and then I thought about how perfectly my fingers run together to take the curve.
I built this well, like the conveyor belts in the game. I took my girlfriend’s hand and thought my fingers are conveyor belts that fit perfectly together. Bro, that’s crazy addicting.
By now, Trymacs no longer only plays Factorio. If you look at Twitch and on YouTube, he has been playing the shooter Fortnite again in recent days.
A satirical PR gag from HandOfBlood and Eintracht Spandau, however, received less favorable feedback from many viewers. The well-known streamer HandOfBlood stated that he wanted to recruit several Twitch streamers into his professional League of Legends team, including Trymacs. This proposal drew loud criticism from many fans, who were far from enthusiastic about the idea: HandOfBlood says he is bringing 2 Twitch streamers into his pro team for LoL, fans are outraged
