In the movies of Star Wars, little is explained, but after the death of Palpatine and Darth Vader, the Empire was not yet overthrown. A new comic shows that the battle on Endor was just the beginning and another person tried to destroy the Rebels.
Which comic is it about? In May, Panini released the first of 3 volumes of The Battle of Jakku. The story takes place right after Episode 6 and shows that the Empire was not simply defeated after the death of the Emperor and Darth Vader.
In the comic, you meet Ubrik Adelhard. He is a Moff, a kind of governor of the Empire for a specific area of the galaxy. After the death of his superiors, however, he did not give up. With a fanatical view for the Empire and for order
, he continued to try to defeat the Rebels.
The Battle of Jakku: Emergent Resistance was sent to us by Panini as a review copy.
The Empire is not defeated yet
Who is Ubrik Adelhard? While a Rebel ship was crashing, the known heroes Leia, Luke, and Han were depicted on the planet Endor after the battle in Episode 6. While the Rebels celebrated on the planet that the Empire was seemingly overthrown, that was not the case in all parts of the galaxy.
For Moff Ubrik Adelhard, however, it was not over yet. He saw his task as bringing order to the chaos caused by the Rebels with the Empire. He started by continuing to control his sector.
His great role models were Darth Vader, Moff Tarkin, and Admiral Thrawn. Originally, he was a poor worker who had to toil for the Empire. Instead of hatred, he developed a drive for power. Adelhard worked his way up in the Empire after starting as a Stormtrooper.
On a planet in his sector, it happened that people deserted. Instead of engaging in a long fight, Adelhard was significantly more radical. He killed everyone on the planet with a gas attack. This earned him the respect of Vader.

He relies on the Empire’s strongest weapon: propaganda
What does Adelhard want to do after the battle of Endor? On one hand, anyone who spreads the information that the Emperor and Vader were killed was accused of being a traitor and executed. On the other hand, he established a blockade in the Anoat Sector with his Star Destroyer.
By doing so, he isolated the living beings within the sector to continue his propaganda. Anyone who opposes it will be ruthlessly destroyed by his followers.
The Rebels learned about this and Leia sent a small group to spy on him. However, Adelhard captured them and almost executed them. But Luke Skywalker saved them and defeated Adelhard in a fight. However, Adelhard’s desire for power was still there.
What does MeinMMO editor Nikolas Hernes say about The Battle of Jakku: Emergent Resistance
? The style of the comic is modern but unfortunately not really impressive. There are no spectacular panels that stuck in my mind. However, the action scenes are entertaining.
The big focus, and also the big highlight, is Adelhard, and the story after Episode 6 is quite interesting. His obsession with power, order, and the other figures of the Empire will hopefully be further developed in the other volumes, as I see potential there.
Those who want a continuation of the old trilogy but have no interest in the sequels can certainly find a good story here. Those who have just watched Andor will also find another story about the Empire here.
