On Steam, you can currently secure the dark co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Darktide for just under ten bucks – and spend over 100 hours easily.
Which game is being referred to? That would be Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a co-op shooter from the Swedish developer studio Fatshark. The team previously released a popular co-op hack-and-slash in the fantasy setting of Warhammer with Warhammer: Vermintide 2.
On Steam, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is currently available at its lowest price to date: The game costs €9.99 instead of €39.99. This offer is valid until December 11, 2025.
If you already own Vermintide 2 (perhaps you recently secured it for free), you save even more when purchasing the Warhammer Tide Collection. Then the game costs €8.49.

Shootouts in the Depths of a Sci-Fi City
What is the game about? In Darktide, you don’t play glorious heroes, but prisoners. Your punishment is to fight against Chaos in the depths of Tertium (a megacity of the Imperium of Man). Chaos is an evil force that is present in all Warhammer worlds.

At the beginning, you create your own character, belonging to one of four classes:
- Veterans are classic soldiers specialized in ranged combat.
- Zealots are fast and aggressive fighters tailored for close combat.
- Psykers are versatile mages who can support their allies but can also deal damage themselves.
- Ogryns are real brutes, not only significantly larger but also tougher than other classes.
In addition to the four classes included in the base game, there are also two DLC classes that you must purchase. The Arbites is the Warhammer version of “Judge Dredd” and was released in June 2025. Starting today, December 2, 2025, you can also play as Hive Scum – the scum in Warhammer 40,000 that nobody truly wants to be.
Hundreds of Hours of Co-op Action
How long does the game take? If you enjoy the gameplay of the co-op shooter, you can invest a lot of time into it. The website howlongtobeat.com indicates around 83 hours for co-op – but there are also many players who have invested significantly more time. This is evident from a look at the reviews on Steam:
- Aenerion has already logged a whopping 963.9 hours in the shooter and refers to it in his Steam review as “one of the best co-op horde games out there”.
- Malignant had about 169 hours in the game at the time of his Steam review. He praises, among other things, the music and sound, the environments and action, as well as the entertainingly written dialogues between the characters.
- Mailorder gave it a “10/10” after 261 hours in his Steam review and has since put in almost 100 more hours into the game.
