Also in the DLC of Elden Ring there are once again a series of quests where you encounter various NPCs. One of them has particularly captivated the community.
Which NPC is it? It is about Igon, a strange fellow whom you can meet in the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree. He also has his own quest, just like Thiollier or Ymir.
During your first encounter at the grace site “Waypoint at the Pillar Hall”, you will likely hear him before you see him. Because Igon lies somewhat off the save point on the ground and screams in pain.
As it turns out, he is a dragon warrior who wants to complete his last mission. His target is Bayle, a fearsome dragon. He is the reason why Igon is paralyzed and lives in constant fear.
If you listen to him, you will learn how tormented the poor guy is. He whines and cries, but even then it becomes clear that a great rage lies beneath the fragile surface.
A sympathetic berserker
What happens to Igon next? If you follow his quest, you will eventually end up in a boss fight against the dragon Bayle. Igon had previously given you a finger, with which he can be summoned during the fight.
When he appears in the arena, Igon doesn’t waste any time. Filled with rage, he insults the dragon and screams: “Curse you, Bayle!”.
Igon makes it clear how much he hates his enemy. He wants to pierce his “decayed skin” and screams as loud as he can. With his help, you hopefully manage to defeat the boss.
Players have grown to love the tragic berserker and celebrate him and the voice actor who gives the character his voice.
Fans love Igon and his voice actor
What do the players think? While Igon initially stands out mainly because of his oddly sounding whining, he has also won over many players with his eccentric nature.
Especially the voice actor of the NPC, Richard Lintern, receives a lot of praise. He is considered the voice actor of the year, according to the account @EldenRingHQ on X.com.
For the user @blood_gutters on X.com, Igon’s portrayal is even the “best performance in a Souls game.” The way Igon screams and doesn’t want to stop is simply brilliant.
Even players who usually play without NPC summons during the rather difficult boss fights have summoned Igon for the battle against the dragon Bayle. He would just be such an impressive hater that it’s worth making an exception, says @SomeDwarf on X.com.
