In World of Warcraft there is currently a nasty bug. With a bit of bad luck, you might delete one of your beloved characters – although you don’t want that at all.
A nasty error in World of Warcraft is currently causing shocking moments. Players are losing their beloved characters that they “accidentally” delete. The fault lies with a bug that came into the game with the patch 10.1.5 Rifts in Time.
What kind of bug is this? According to Blizzard, it can happen that when deleting a character, a different character is selected than the one you actually intended. If you want to delete an ancient rubbish twink, it might happen that you accidentally select your main character and send it to data nirvana.
How can this be prevented? Since this is a “pretty hefty” bug, you should probably just not delete any characters for now. However, it is to be expected that such an error will be fixed very soon with a hotfix. If you absolutely want to delete characters until then, pay double attention to what is actually being deleted.

What to do if the wrong character was deleted? Fortunately, deleting a character in World of Warcraft is not really a permanent matter. It is always possible to restore deleted characters. Therefore, even when accidentally deleting the wrong character, no significant damage can occur.
However, be aware that some things cannot be undone during a character restoration. If your character is in a guild or community and you delete it, it will not automatically rejoin the guild or community upon restoration. In such a case, you will have to re-establish those contacts.
