Are you looking for an affordable co-op game where you can really blow off some steam? Then “Killing Floor 2” might be a good option for you.
What kind of game is this? There are many ways to deal with a full-blown zombie apocalypse. “Killing Floor 2” from 2016 takes the most direct approach: It gives you pretty much every conceivable weapon to get rid of the “un” in undead.
The game mechanics are pretty simple: Gather up to 6 friends, choose one of several classes, and grab the weapon of your choice.
From pistols to a standard shovel, from a sharp katana to a chainsaw or a flamethrower, there’s pretty much everything included.
Now you have to face the oncoming zombie hordes. In teamwork, you must survive round after round and turn the raging undead into firewood. Warning: This is not necessarily for the faint of heart. In Killing Floor 2, as the title suggests, it gets pretty wild, bloody, and sometimes creepy.
Numerous updates throw you into various settings – sometimes you face “normal” zombies, sometimes you battle lunar undead or Christmas monsters.
The GameStar review from the release in 2016 shows what the game looks like:
From this game, you shouldn’t expect a big story but simply some crazy rounds of zombie-slaying with friends. The game is all about over-the-top action – you notice that at the latest when you shoot at the zombies in slow motion.
By the way, we show you many good co-op alternatives in the list of the best co-op games 2022.
What players say about Killing Floor 2
What makes Killing Floor 2 popular? The game by Tripwire Interactive (by the way, the creators of the quite crazy Maneater or the co-op knight fun Chivalry 2) enjoys predominantly positive reviews on Steam.
A total of 88% of all reviews since release are positive (from 71,336 pieces), and among the recently released reviews in the last 30 days, it is still 87% (from 425).
Praise is given, among other things, for the visuals and sound of the game. Additionally, the game is simply described as a good co-op experience with entertaining gameplay. Depending on the difficulty level, the game can be quite challenging – if you want it to be.
However, Killing Floor 2 can become repetitive over time.
However, it continues to be supplied with new content to this day. The last update was released two weeks ago:
What does the game cost? Since the game was released in 2016, Killing Floor 2 is once again coming into focus due to some offers.
- In the Epic Games Store, you can get the game for free between July 7 and July 14. There’s only a week left.
- As part of the Steam Summer Sale, the game is also available at a discounted price on Steam – if you’re in a hurry. It costs €6.74 instead of €26.99 until July 7.
- The game is also reduced in the PS Store until July 7, from €29.99 to €7.49.
Tip for long-time PS Plus members: In 2017, Killing Floor 2 was one of the free games, so you might already have it in your library. On Xbox, the game is currently not available at a reduced price.
But if zombies are not for you, it’s still a good time to look for bargains. The Steam Summer Sale, for example, offers plenty of games at discounted prices. There are also a few hidden gems among them – such as the popular space survival game “Empyrion”.
