16-Year-Old Caught Red-Handed Trying to Sell Dog
A father reported on reddit that he had given his son a husky for his 14th birthday. However, the boy was not interested in the dog; instead, his parents and siblings took care of the husky.
But since the 14th birthday, the living circumstances changed, and he was less interested in nature and more in gaming and expensive shoes.
What happened next? Two years later, at 16, the boy wanted new, expensive gaming equipment, but his parents told him they could not afford the hardware. To finance his hobby, the boy decided to sell the dog on the street. What hardware and accessories the boy wanted to buy is not known.
The father noticed this because the boy normally would never walk the dog. He then caught his son trying to sell the dog in a parking lot.
How did the situation end? The father took away all of the 16-year-old’s electronic devices. That way, he couldn’t come up with the silly idea of selling the dog for his hobby. The boy was quite outraged and claimed that the father was totally selfish and that the dog technically belonged to him [the boy], so he could do whatever he wanted with the animal, even if the father didn’t like it.
The dog found its way back to the family and was not sold for PC hardware or other things. How the boy is doing today and whether he regrets his actions from back then is not known. The original thread starter has not commented further on the topic.
What do other people think? Reactions within the community are also clear: Many support the father and state that one would probably have acted differently. After all, the dog is a living being that the family has grown fond of.
Hardware has been getting more expensive in recent years
What are current hardware prices like? Hardware prices have been increasing sharply for several years. Especially in the high-end segment, you need to spend significantly more than 1,500 euros for a single graphics card. But even in the mid-range segment, you are now paying 150 euros more than a few years ago.
Some gamers now believe that PC gaming may soon be unaffordable and that many people will switch to a game console in the long term:
- Because an Xbox or PlayStation is significantly cheaper compared to a gaming PC.
- Moreover, such a console is the better option if you only want to game and don’t need the PC for home office or other activities.
Basically, everyone has to decide for themselves whether they really want to invest thousands of euros in a new graphics card. Some users are also skeptical about whether it really is necessary. Because why buy a graphics card for 1,600 euros when it could be outdated tomorrow? Old hardware can still be used today without any issues, because technologies like DLSS and FSR ensure that even years-old graphics cards can still handle new titles.
Are there alternatives to such expensive hardware? One option is to buy used hardware. This way, one can save money if it doesn’t have to be the latest technology. But even here, things may not always go smoothly: A YouTuber built a PC from used hardware, and everything went wrong.
Another option is cloud gaming, provided you have a good internet connection. Here, the calculations of the games do not run on your hardware but are processed by a server instead. With a controller, you can even use cloud gaming on a phone or your TV.
Some dreams only come true years later: Another gamer did not have much money in his daily life. Nevertheless, he dreamed of a graphics card that he could finally buy now – years later. You can read the whole story on MeinMMO:
