The Polish studio Flying Wild Hog was previously known for the bloody shooter Shadow Warrior. But now, they are bringing a new shooter in Diablo style with Space Punks, which looks like a mix of Guardians of the Galaxy and Borderlands. The quirky game is now playable in Early Access

What is Space Punks? Space Punks is the newly announced game from the Polish studio Flying Hog Games. They have previously developed shooters like Hard Reset or the bloody over-the-top Ninja massacre Shadow Warrior (Here is the highly rated review on GameStar). Jagex is the publisher, who is also behind the cult MMO Runescape.
According to the official press release and the first trailer, Space Punks appears to be a top-down looter shooter. Alone or with up to four other players in co-op, you shoot your way through procedurally generated maps and collect better loot.
Borderlands meets Diablo meets Guardians of the Galaxy
What else is Space Punks about? The gameplay of Space Punks promises a lot of colorful explosions, tons of shooting, and wild melee action, according to the trailer. At launch, there seem to be four different characters you can choose from:
- A cool guy named Duke who looks (and sounds) like a mix of Handsome Jack from Borderlands and Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy.
- A mean-looking woman who can grow deadly blades from her body.
- A strange alien that looks like an insect and takes down enemies with technological gadgets.
- A rough humanoid wild boar with a mohawk and a lot of desire for brawling.
In the game, various firearms or brutal melee weapons will be used depending on your preference. In the best Diablo manner, it is probably most fun when there are plenty of enemies on the screen and you can launch them into the air with special attacks.
When and for which platforms is Space Punks coming? Space Punks will be released soon, specifically on July 14 for Early Access on PC. An open beta is expected to follow in winter 2021. According to the developers, Space Punks will then be released on consoles in 2022.
