That’s why we took a look at 9 activities in the game and explain how you can pass the time in Black Desert.
Explore the World
What is there to discover in the world? The world of Black Desert does not allow for fast travel. Therefore, traveling to and discovering all locations is a small challenge.
In the process, there are not only landscapes to discover that are beautifully depicted in Black Desert’s graphics, but also many useful contents:
- Discovering special locations gives you energy, with which you can then fish or perform other activities.
- Hidden chests offer you the chance to get loot.
- Conversations with hidden NPCs can fill your knowledge gaps.
- You can find and collect ore nodes and other materials.
Leveling Up
What is special about Black Desert? The sandbox MMORPG does not have an official maximum level. Although at level 60 you unlock all active skills for the classes, there is still the opportunity to further improve your attributes.
That’s why many players try to reach as high a level as possible. However, the grind can quickly become very large. To reach level 65 it already takes several thousand hours.
No player has reached level 66 yet, but that’s guaranteed to happen in 2020.
Play New Classes
What new classes are there? In 2019, the new class Shai was introduced, which originally had a strong support focus. However, in terms of playstyle, it still differs from the other classes and is therefore worth a look.
Additionally, on January 22, the new class Guardian will be released. A good time to fire up Black Desert again and rediscover it.
Improve Life Skills and Go Fishing
What does Black Desert offer in terms of Life Skills? Life Skills refer to 11 “professions”, or also work talents, that you can learn and constantly improve. The following options are available:
- Gathering
- Processing
- Fishing
- Hunting
- Cooking
- Alchemy
- Taming
- Trading
- Cultivation
- Sailing
- Bartering
You can use and improve as many of them as you like at the same time. Especially fishing is very popular as it is also a lucrative means of income. In contrast, there are many daily quests and tasks to complete in hunting.
In September 2019, an update was released that expanded the work talents and introduced the new Manos gear specifically for this purpose. Early 2020 is therefore an excellent time to engage more intensively with the topic.
Build a Boat
Why is it worth building a boat now? In October 2019, a major ocean update was implemented that revised the content on the seas.
New ships were introduced, and there are winds and currents that aim to provide more realism.
If you haven’t built a boat yet, you might consider it as a new task for 2020.
Trading Networks and Workers
How does the trading system work? In Black Desert, you can earn money through various methods. Aside from many life skills through which you can earn money, trading is particularly attractive.
In doing so, you can:
- Buy goods in a city
- Bring them to the next city with a donkey and later with carts and horses
- And sell them there.
The prices depend on supply and demand and the distance between the cities.
Everywhere on the map, there are nodes that can connect to form a huge trading network. This is also connected to the worker system.
What can workers do? Workers can be hired to gather or process materials for you. However, they need accommodation for this, which you have to rent in the nodes.
After that, they can complete a variety of tasks for you, including building a boat. Entire production chains can be created, from gathering the materials to producing the finished product.
Decorate Your Own Home
What is housing like in Black Desert? Housing is one of the most extensive features of the game. You can have several residences. And of course, you also own the accommodations that you rent for your workers.
Your own houses can be decorated with furniture as you like, including items that you can only buy in the shop for real money.
Additionally, you can visit friends’ and guildmates’ apartments, allowing you to showcase your creations to each other.
World Bosses
Why should you fight world bosses? In Black Desert, there are various world and field bosses that appear at specific times and can only be defeated with a larger group of players. This is the first content that you cannot experience alone.
A victory over these bosses gives you the chance to earn armor pieces or weapons from the respective bosses. In addition, you can get black stones, silver, and hunter tokens as rewards.
However, you must be there early and deal a lot of damage to the boss to be rewarded. Bosses are particularly worthwhile when you have reached level 56+ but are not yet equipped with the corresponding items.
Battles in PvP
What does PvP offer in Black Desert? PvP can already be experienced in the open world of Black Desert, with attacking players who have deactivated the PvP mode being punished with negative karma. Additionally, there are safe zones near large cities.
There is also organized PvP in the form of guild wars for posts and entire territories. These take place weekly and allow you to control the areas.
For these contents, it’s worthwhile to join a guild. It generally makes the most fun to experience Black Desert together with others.
