Cania is the manifestation of envy and the ruthless, cold pursuit of knowledge. It epitomizes emotionless logic and the insatiable desire to possess every secret at any cost, regardless of the consequences.
Its ruler is Mephistopheles, the Lord of the Cold Sun. He is probably the second most powerful devil after Asmodeus and is possessed by an insatiable thirst for arcane knowledge and forbidden secrets. His intelligence is legendary, as is his envy of anyone who might possess a secret he does not know.
Cania itself is the coldest of the nine hell layers, a world whose chill makes even the icy vastness of Stygia seem mild. The landscape consists of massive, slowly moving glaciers that grind everything beneath them. The ice hell is plagued by storms so cold that they can even overcome magical protection.
