Place 8: Eris Morn
What makes Eris so strong? Eris is very special because she has endured many terrible fates and remained loyal to the Traveler. Alongside Shaxx and Zavala, she participated in the Great Hunt against the Ahamkara and destroyed many of the wish dragons.
Years later, when the Hive took the Moon with Crota, she went with her fireteam and Toland into the Hellmouth of the Moon to defeat Crota and crush the Hive. Despite the information from Toland, the fireteam was annihilated – except for Eris.
Without her Ghost and equipped with an Ahamkara bone, she wished for a way to survive in the Hellmouth – this granted her the Hive Eyes. She is an expert when it comes to Hive rituals, the Darkness, and understanding it. She has no qualms about breaking rules and exploiting methods like the Darkness to save humanity.
Additionally, she even transformed into a Hive god, banished Xivu Arath from her Throne World, and can wield Stasis. Now she serves as one of the Hidden in gathering information regarding the Darkness.
Place 7: Shin Malphur
What makes Shin so strong? When people hear the name Shin Malphur, they surely think of one thing: The Last Word. And that’s exactly what he always has – especially when it comes to Guardians who have succumbed to the Darkness.
As a small child, he lost his family to Fallen and was raised by a Guardian in the village of “Palamon.” However, a Titan corrupted by Darkness, Dredgen Yor, massacred the village, leaving only Shin and the Ghost of his guardian.
Driven by revenge, he sought out the murderer of his father with the weapon “The Last Word,” took him down, and thus invented the Golden Gun, which is favored by many Hunters. What makes Shin so special is the fact that he did not have to die to connect with a Ghost.
Even as a child, the Ghost of his guardian stated that Shin was blessed by the Traveler, which was why he could connect with it. It is believed that he was killed along with his parents but was revived by a foreign Ghost that then moved on.
With his Ghost and as a Guardian, Shin now hunts down all Lightbearers who have succumbed to the Darkness. He has not lost a single showdown yet, and the only thing left of his opponents is black ash.
