In Destiny 2 is Reckoning a new mode of Season 6. Here are tips so you don’t fail terribly in “The Reckoning”.
This is Reckoning: It is a PvE mode that became active in Season 6 for annual pass owners. According to Bungie, Reckoning is a fast-paced, intense, and challenging mode consisting of 3 stages. Each stage becomes more chaotic than the one before.
To make sure you don’t drown in all the chaos, here are a few tips to rock Reckoning.
Tip 1: Don’t go in underleveled to Reckoning
Here’s the tip: Don’t start the mode if you have a power level below the recommended power level. Reckoning is already tough enough. So make sure you meet the recommended level requirements, as the enemies will just take you down quicker otherwise. Underleveled Guardians usually aren’t much help and just end up dead somewhere.
These are the recommended power levels:
- Reckoning Level 1: Recommended Power 650.
- Reckoning Level 2: Recommended Power 670.
- Reckoning Level 3 starts on March 15. You will face enemies with Power 690. This level is said by Bungie to be tough endgame content.
Play bounties and weekly quests that yield powerful rewards. This way, you steadily climb to the maximum of 700. With new bounties from the Vagabond, you can quickly reach 640 – only then use sources for powerful gear if you are still below 640.
Tip 2: Know how the mode works
This is how Reckoning – Level 1 works: You need to kill PvE enemies quickly and find new ones quickly to kill them as well. Because there’s a timer running out. During this time, you need to keep raising a dominance counter with kills. If you are too slow, the counter drops. When the counter reaches 100%, there is a boss that you need to eliminate in a limited time.
This is how Reckoning – Level 2 works: Level 2 starts like Level 1. Defeat enemies to reach 100% dominance. However, a door opens to a bridge. Move to a total of 6 circles on the bridge that you need to stand in to reach 100% each. Then you get to a boss room through a portal, where you must eliminate two Ascendant Knights. First, defeat the enemy with a symbol above their head in one of the four corners to gain a buff against the Knights.
In Reckoning you play together with three other Guardians. It’s best to play in a fireteam; otherwise, players will be matched with you through matchmaking. If a teammate leaves the mode, a new teammate will quickly be found for you.
Tip 3: Pay attention to the modifiers
Here’s the tip: In Reckoning, there are always 3 modifiers active. A scorch modifier that changes weekly, and two other modifiers that change daily.
- Pay attention especially to the scorch modifier and equip accordingly. In the first week, Void damage is amplified. For a Hunter, for example, the Exotic Orpheus Rig combined with the appropriate super is a good option. Also take along energy and power weapons that match the active scorch modifier.
- Some modifiers, such as glass, are particularly unfavorable in Reckoning. Because with glass, you take significantly less damage than usual, so you will die more often. If you play with randoms who constantly die, it’s worth waiting for other modifiers.
Tip 4: Revive your teammates quickly
Here’s the tip: This is probably the most important tip. You need a lot of firepower to raise the dominance counter. If a Guardian dies, you are missing that.
It takes painfully long for a player to respawn and return to the fight. So revive them as quickly as possible.
On Reddit, there’s already ironic reactions that many Guardians neglect this tip. One user wrote – for which they received thousands of upvotes: “I found a glitch that makes Reckoning really easy!”
The “glitch” looks like this: If a team member dies, go to them. “Revive” will appear. Press the button, and they can continue fighting!
The nasty thing about the dominance counter: It’s not enough if you quickly kill the enemies alone. Because the dominance counter is not a pure “kill counter”. Instead, you need to get quick kills while your teammates are doing the same, which is why the 20-second respawn time becomes deadly. When all 4 Guardians are alive and quickly killing enemies, the counter climbs rapidly.
Bonus Tip: Stay relatively close together as a team so you can eliminate the tougher bosses quickly and revive each other promptly.
Tip 5: Kill the snipers
Here’s the tip: If you go down in Reckoning, it’s certainly most often due to a sniper. The enemy snipers spawn on all kinds of elevated platforms. If you see any, communicate that to your team and kill them as quickly as possible.
It’s best to have a weapon for distance, like a scout rifle with a tracking module (for explosive damage), because the snipers usually come in a group.
Tip 6: Service violation!
Here’s the tip: In Reckoning, it’s “time to shine” for the weapon you had to play long Gambit for: the Service Violation.
The Service Violation is an exotic hand cannon that deals bonus damage to the Taken and causes explosions when you land multiple rounds in an enemy. Since you will be overwhelmed by Taken from all sides in Reckoning, the mode is made for the Service Violation.
You deal significant damage to enemies with this weapon, and if you’re good with this hand cannon, you won’t want to put it down.
Bonus Tip: Wear gloves that increase reload speed for hand cannons.
Tip 7: Use raid banners
Here’s the tip: Not many Guardians probably know this info: You can use raid banners in Reckoning.
In the spawn area, to the right of the bank, there is a small crater where you can set up a banner. You can buy the banners from Petra in the Dreaming City; they grant you full super and power ammo.
With this, you might get the crucial advantage to win the Reckoning round.
Tip 8: Get your particle back that you wagered
Here’s the tip: To get to the Gambit Prime gear in Reckoning, you must throw the particles created with the synthesizer into the bank located to the left in front of the pit in the spawn area.
You only receive a piece of armor with the particle if you win the Reckoning round. However, if you lose, you shouldn’t rage quit, but run back to the bank after the round and get your particle back. Then you can wager it again next time.
