When does the raid start? The raid “Root of Nightmares” starts on Friday, March 10 at 6:00 PM and ends 48 hours later on Sunday, March 12 at 6:00 PM. As the raid is just around the corner, we show you a recommendation of weapons that you should definitely consider during your run.
8 weapons that are important in the new raid for Lightfall
The focus was on selecting weapons that have proven to be very useful after the major sandbox changes by Bungie. We offer you the following examples as recommendations:
1. Izanagi’s Burden – Exotic Sniper Rifle
Why this weapon? Izanagi’s Burden is one of the most popular and strongest weapons in Destiny 2, allowing you to deal high damage in a short period. This is mainly due to its catalyst, as consuming a full magazine creates a power shot in your burden that causes enormous damage. The weapon can also be paired with a grenade launcher or rocket launcher.
Where do I get it? You can get the weapon from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower for a small material fee.
2. Succession – Legendary Machine Gun
Why this weapon? Succession is a very good choice, not for DPS, but rather for add-clear. Machine guns currently deal high damage, quickly decimate smaller foes and majors, and with the Void element, allow players to apply volatile shots. Therefore, Succession is well suited for this task with its existing perks.
Where do I get it? The MG is a random drop from the “Glass Chamber” Raid and can be obtained in the Conflux, Templar, or Atheon phase.
3. Witherhoard – Exotic Grenade Launcher
Why this weapon? The Witherhoard is still a strong option despite its nerf, if you want to deal damage over time or keep your opponents better at bay. Its catalyst allows the weapon to reload itself when stored. Therefore, it is worthwhile to alternate shooting a blight and then dealing damage with a heavy weapon until the effect needs to be reapplied.
Where do I get it? The grenade launcher can be obtained from the Monument to Lost Lights, provided you have the necessary materials.
4. Heatseeker – Legendary Rocket Launcher
Why this weapon? The Heatseeker is a very strong Legendary Rocket Launcher. Together with the perks “Targeting Module” and “Explosive Light”, you not only deal a large amount of damage but also ensure that your rockets never lose their target.
Where do I get it? Normally in Nightfalls; however, the Heatseeker is not in rotation in Season 20. You cannot focus decode the rocket launcher with engrams either.
5. Two-Winged Fox – Exotic Rocket Launcher
Why this weapon? The Two-Winged Fox received a catalyst with Lightfall. “Third Tail” allows you to fire three rockets instead of two. This rocket launcher can stun any champion that comes into your view with the catalyst.
Where do I get it? You can obtain the exotic randomly from exotic engrams or Xur.
6. Prospector – Exotic Grenade Launcher
Why this weapon? The Prospector is indeed a strong choice in terms of DPS. Aztecross, a well-known weapon tester and streamer from Destiny 2 (via youtube.com), has reviewed some firearms for Lightfall, including Gjallarhorn, Two-Winged Fox, and even the Heavy Bow Leviathan’s Breath.
The result: All failed, and the Prospector alone could deal about 768,000 damage in a damage phase against the Templar. With a good slug shotgun or sniper, a lot of damage can be done.
Where do I get it? You can obtain the Prospector randomly from exotic engrams or Xur.
7. Vexcalibur – Exotic Glaive
Why this weapon? Vexcalibur can be obtained in a new exotic mission in the European Dead Zone. It is a glaive and a very good one, as it can greatly protect your team.
When you block incoming damage with Vexcalibur, you and your teammates nearby gradually receive a Void shield. This can be especially useful in critical situations, as Void shields are very resilient.
Where do I get it? You get the exotic from the secret mission “NODE.OVRD.AVALON”. This begins in the European Dead Zone, landing zone chasm. However, if you have already unlocked it, you can also start it via the map.
8. Gjallarhorn – Exotic Rocket Launcher
Why this weapon? Gjallarhorn is a very good support weapon that equips other rocket launchers in your team with pack shots. So if you’re going into the DPS phase of a boss with rocket launchers, one or two people should definitely bring the horn.
Where do I get it? You can get the rocket launcher in the dungeon “Haunted Ruins” and through an exotic quest. However, you need to have the 30-year anniversary package from Bungie, which must be purchased separately.
