What is EverQuest? EverQuest is considered the forefather of modern MMORPGs. It takes place on the fictional planet Norrath in its own fantasy world. The gods of the world play a central role as they are responsible for many abilities. There is therefore a lot of story to discover and experience.
In EverQuest, players are divided into the factions of “good” and “evil,” with corresponding races for both factions as well as neutral races. In EverQuest, you can choose from 16 races and 16 classes. In EverQuest II, there are even 25 classes with 20 races. Additionally, there are crafting classes that can be learned by almost any character with few exceptions.
Both EverQuest and EverQuest II offer content for every taste. There is both PvP as well as the possibility to explore the world or venture through dungeons and raids in groups.
This is how active the community is: According to Steamcharts, an average of about 250 people play EverQuest and 150 play EverQuest II. However, the games also have their own client, making it difficult to provide exact player numbers.
The global distribution is clearer. EverQuest is still played especially in America, Northern Europe, and parts of Asia. EverQuest II is more represented in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Germany and Russia.
Are there still updates? Yes, both games still receive regular updates, patches, and events. The developers provide information about the new features on the respective sites. However, German support has been discontinued, so EverQuest is only available in English.
