What is Tibia? Tibia is a 2D MMORPG from Germany, developed with the idea of creating a dungeon for multiple players with a graphical basis. It was meant to be a change from the more common text-based RPGs of 1997.
In Tibia, you dive into a magical fantasy world. Instead of being able to choose a class for character creation, you play your hero until he can choose one of four professions.
The professions Knight, Paladin, Mage, and Druid determine how quickly you improve certain skills like melee or magic. PvP and PvE servers are separate.
This is how active the community is: Tibia is still one of the most played games. According to the counter on the game’s homepage, over 15,000 players still play simultaneously during peak times.
The fans also take strong care of Tibia in other ways. There are fan sites such as Tibia Bosses, where information about available, strong opponents is published, and Tibia is still streamed on Twitch, partly on channels with several hundred viewers.
An interesting detail is that Tibia is particularly popular in Poland and South America according to Google trends. Some fathers from Venezuela even play Tibia to survive.
Are there still updates? Yes, the operators still actively take care of their game, and there are sometimes several updates daily regarding the game or what happens around the game. Events are also regularly held.
