What is Anarchy Online? Anarchy Online is a sci-fi MMORPG by Funcom, known for games like Conan Exiles and Age of Conan. It is considered the first MMORPG to offer a science fiction setting.
You play as a colonist on the alien world Rubi-Ka and do not have specific goals other than to simply develop further. You belong to one of four races that emerged from gene experiments and earned their freedom in a long war.
You have 12 classes available to you. (14 if you subscribe) Anarchy Online has four expansions, all included in a subscription.
This is how active the community is: According to Steamchart, Anarchy Online is no longer played through Steam. Only about five players log in sporadically. However, the game’s own client seems to be significantly more active.
Particularly Nordics and Norwegians are still enthusiastic about the game. There is even a dedicated group of veterans who have made it their mission to support new players.
Are there still updates? Yes, but rarely. The last updates revolved around Halloween events and a winter event. There was also a birthday event in June 2018. “Significant work” is also reportedly no longer planned.
