At BlizzCon, the developers of World of Warcraft confirmed what players have been wishing for several years. The Naga will be a playable race.
One of the biggest announcements at this year’s BlizzCon was the revelation of a new allied race in World of Warcraft. After players have already defeated the Naga Queen Azshara in patch 8.2, the Naga rise again in patch 8.3 – at least a small group of them. They are looking for a new home.
Naga like the Pandaren: Just like the Pandaren did in Mists of Pandaria, Naga start as a “neutral” faction and at the end of the introductory scenario, they have the choice of trying their luck with the Horde or the Alliance.
Like other allied races, Naga start at level 20 in the ruins of Naz’jatar. During the scenario, players search for survivors and at the end have the option to call for help from either the Horde or the Alliance, which then clarifies their faction allegiance.
The racial abilities of the Naga
Like all races, Naga also come with their own racial bonuses:
- Gift of N’Zoth: Naga are perfectly adapted to conditions in water. Their swimming speed is increased by 80% at all times.
- Azshara’s Pride: Like their former queen, Naga crave recognition. Every ally within 5 meters increases critical hit chance, speed, and mastery by 0.25% up to a maximum of 1%.
- Trident: Throws a spear at the target, dealing minor damage and stunning the victim for 2 seconds. 90 seconds cooldown.
- Deep Protection: Summons a protective water shield that protects the user for 10 seconds from all damage. While Deep Protection is active, the character cannot move, attack, or cast spells. Cannot be canceled early. 3 minutes cooldown.
In order to unlock Naga, you must have completed the current quests from patch 8.2. Afterwards, Naga will be available in character selection.
