Who is Ikora? Ikora Rey belongs to the Vanguard and is the leader and chief of all Warlocks. For a time, she remained in the background during the Destiny 2 story. As Bungie noticed this, they decided that she should be more integrated into the story.
As “The Witch Queen” approaches, it could be that she will take on a more significant role, as she was also seen in this regard in the trailer. On this occasion, we list 8 facts about Ikora, some of which you probably did not know.
1. She uses multiple Light classes
In the Destiny 2 universe, it is unusual to master multiple Light classes. Our Guardian, on the other hand, who can wield multiple Light classes and even the Darkness, is considered a prodigy of guardianship. Despite this, there are a few exceptions that, through rigorous training, gain the chance to use multiple Light focuses.
Ikora Rey taught us in Destiny 1 how to wield the immense Arc power in the form of the Stormcaller. Many thought that Ikora was only a Stormcaller because of this. But that is not the case. In the fight against the Cabal Legion at the beginning of Destiny 2, Ikora used a Nova Bomb against a Cabal ship.
As it seems, she masters the Nova and Arc focus. Whether she can make Solar her ally is uncertain, but nonetheless not impossible.
Perhaps more of her abilities will be revealed in the major expansion “The Witch Queen”.
2. She was the first with a 25-game winning streak in the Crucible
Before Ikora established herself in the Vanguard, she stormed the Crucible. Creepy rumors circulated.
Guardians tell stories in which Ikora Rey took Shaxx so hard that he has not been able to sit normally since. She was a true beast when it came to fighting, and thus she became the first to hold the record for 25 consecutive victories in the Crucible. No one else has come close to achieving that.
Despite this, the Crucible refined her, for without it, Ikora would not have become what she is now.
3. Thanks to her plans, the Earth still stands
Colleagues from the Warlock Academy and the Vanguard know Ikora for her iconic character. By nature, Ikora preferred a straightforward education and rejected the traditional approach of the Tower.
Her impatience with traditions initially provoked the ire of her guardian colleagues. However, her travels in the solar system gave her a new perspective on the Light.
Thanks to her tenacity, she earned respect among her Warlock colleagues. Subsequently, she became the apprentice of Osiris, the first Warlock of the Vanguard. Ikora attentively followed all of the elder Warlock’s teachings.
When she took the place of the Warlock Vanguard, Ikora’s proactive and direct approach helped countless times in defending the Last City and the Earth.
4. She has a preference for shotguns
True fans of Ikora should have noticed that she has a preference for shotguns. Shotguns are perfect for quick, straightforward, and powerful statements.
Ikora has used her beloved shotgun “Scorn” since her days in the Crucible. Unfortunately, she lost the weapon during her solo crusade against the Cabal Legion on Io.
The cool thing about the weapon was that it generated ammunition out of thin air. But that wasn’t all. The shotgun could also be fired fully automatic, fitting Ikora’s daring side.
5. Ikora was Osiris’ “favorite student”
It is known that Ikora was Osiris’ best student. However, she was probably even more. Ikora was also Osiris’ “favorite student”. They both share a fondness for exploring the unknown. While Ikora focused on Warlock studies, Osiris nearly maniacally concentrated on the studies of the Vex.
Moreover, Ikora sometimes attempted to defend Osiris and his studies when he was questioned by the Vanguard. Especially when it appeared that Osiris was neglecting his duties.
In light of this, the consensus entrusted Ikora with secret duties of the Warlock Vanguard until Osiris’ exile. Afterwards, Ikora officially succeeded him in this position.
6. She has delved into Thanatonautics
What does this mean exactly? Thanatonautics is simply the exploration of the state during dying. Many Guardians have been researching death since the incorporation of the Crucible. They believed that on the way to death, visions are revealed. In such “near-death experiences”, Guardians saw visions of possible futures.
As a result, a group called the “Thanatonauts” was formed. As a Guardian, it was easy to evoke such “visions”, as one can never truly die thanks to the Light.
Due to her thirst for knowledge and the fact that her mentor Osiris was also a member of the cult, she participated in these experiments. At an unknown time, she left this group. Whether it was due to a specific experience remains unclear.
7. She built her own espionage network
You may have already heard something about the secret “Hidden”. This organization is trained to spy on Darkness and similar threats to identify possible dangers to the Last City. However, many are not aware that this organization was initiated and is led by Ikora herself.
It is unclear whether the Vanguard itself is aware of the existence of the Hidden. Some, like Mara Sov and Eris, are, however, aware of such a network.
8. Ikora once had a tense relationship with her Ghost
Every Guardian is “born” with a Ghost. This Ghost is an eternal companion. However, the cohabitation with these beings does not always go smoothly. Just like between humans, there can sometimes be disagreements and quarrels between Ghost and human. This was also the case with Ikora and her companion “Ophiuchus”.
Ikora’s Ghost believed that Ghosts were created to match their Guardian’s character. In this case, Ophiuchus was a calm and measured Ghost who supported Ikora with her fiery temperament and often calmed her.
However, there came a point when they no longer understood each other. They had a falling out, and Ophiuchus silently followed Ikora from then on. He only observed his Guardian’s further actions.
But after 61 years, when Ikora and Osiris finally reunited, Ikora also reconciled with her Ghost.
