Old School RuneScape
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: Jagex | Platform: PC, iOS, Android | Release Date: February 22, 2013 | Model: Free2Play
Old School RuneScape is the “classic” version of RuneScape, which has evolved quite differently since its launch. The game was released in 2013, based on the version that original RuneScape had in 2007.
Since then, the old title has been expanded with new content, with the developers still adhering to the same virtues of teamwork, grind, and a “hack and slash” control scheme. Each new feature must receive 75% approval from the players before it is implemented by the creators.

On Steam, both versions boast around 82 percent positive reviews. And player numbers across all platforms are high enough to justify continuous content updates. That the revenues are also strong is shown by the announcement about Jagex’s acquisition in February 2024: The most important MMORPG company in Europe is officially sold

Aion Classic
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: NCsoft / Gameforge | Platform: PC | Release Date: September 25, 2009 | Model: Free2Play
Since April 12, 2023, you can play the Classic version of Aion, which was initially based on version 1.9 and offered the original content up to level 50 – including flying in the open world, old dungeons, rifts, and the PvP battles in the Abyss.
However, there were first adjustments right at launch, such as balancing fine-tuning and comfort features. Since the release, not only have the familiar contents of Aion been gradually added to the Classic servers, but also completely new ones like the two classes Avenger and Brawler.
Aion Classic has been based from the beginning on a Free2Play model associated with the optional subscription “Siel’s Energy.” Every player receives “Siel’s Energy” for free for one hour every day. Anyone who wants to continuously benefit from the advantages for gaining experience, items, or Kinah must pay a few euros. More information can be found here: Who is Aion Classic worth it for?
