In Destiny 2, there are always weapons that dominate everything and leave their mark on the game. We’re taking a look at 7 of these standout weapons.
The loot shooter Destiny 2 skillfully combines many elements into a unique mix – one of the main ingredients for the outstanding cocktail is the numerous cool weapons. But some of the firearms have a greater impact on the game than others.
In this article, we take a look at the possibly most powerful weapons that players will remember for years to come. The 7 guns on the following pages are the standout nails, as the Destiny developer himself calls them.
We’ll examine what makes the weapons so special, what has happened to them, and why you loved the beasts so much.
Rocket Launchers with Cluster Bombs – Because one explosion is not enough
That’s why the weapon was so strong: Rocket launchers were considered very good power weapons in the early days of Destiny 2. However, with the perk Cluster Bombs, they reached a whole new level and became real boss killers.
The perk causes the initial rocket detonation to release a multitude of smaller bombs that blanket an entire area with their explosions. The larger the enemy, the more of the clusters deal damage. Traditionally, the biggest bosses in Destiny are also the strongest. Rocket launchers quickly became the must-have weapon in PvE, guaranteeing fast raid runs, even to the extent that they bypassed boss mechanics.
What happened to the OP guns? The power of rocket launchers remained largely unchallenged for quite a while until Bungie put a stop to it in Season 6. The great auto-reload nerf from Shadowkeep then finally ended the era of rocket launchers.
That’s why Guardians loved their cluster rocket launchers: The love for their rocket launchers runs deep among Guardians. Even in Destiny 1, the exotic variants were well-known and feared, foremost the most iconic Destiny weapon of all time: The Gjallarhorn.
The Recluse – SMG with a nasty bite
That’s why the weapon was so strong: The Recluse is the name of a legendary SMG that can be specifically earned through PvP. It features the unique perk Mastery, which was powerful: After every kill, regardless of the weapon used, the damage of The Recluse increased enormously.
Once heated up, you could essentially mow down anything and achieve serious kill streaks. With the generous damage modifications, it didn’t matter whether you scored body or headshots. Conveniently, the SMG reloaded significantly faster after every kill and was regarded as the strongest primary weapon in both PvP and PvE.
What happened to the OP gun? The Recluse arrived in Season 6 and was then hit by the nerf hammer in Season 9. The weapon is still good today, but the damage is no longer astronomical, and you need to aim much more precisely.
That’s why Guardians loved their Recluse: As a top weapon, The Recluse was tied to a quest that required victories in competitive PvP. Accordingly, Guardians were pleased to be rewarded with such a powerful weapon for their efforts.
Why I welcomed the nerf of The Recluse, you can read here, otherwise, we continue on the next page with overpowered weapons.
