Jens “Knossi” Knossalla (37) told a story in a React to the first episode of 7 vs. Wild Season 3 that has not been seen in the “Behind the Scenes” format so far. He and his teammate forgot to send a life signal on one of the first evenings, which is why the rescue team was dispatched.
How did it come to this? Knossi told in his React to the first episode of 7 vs. Wild Season 3 that he and his teammate Sascha Huber (31) forgot to send the “Code Green” signal on one of the first days in the wilderness. The signal must be sent in the morning and evening to confirm that both participants are doing well. The two simply fell asleep in the evening without sending the signal.
The signal is sent via a small transmitter that works like an old satellite phone. Messages can also be delayed if there is no reception. For the organizing team behind 7 vs. Wild Season 3, this always means some uncertainty when a signal is missing. Especially in the high fire risk, the organizing team remains very vigilant.
Why is there this transmitter? The transmitter is for safety and replaces the mobile phones that were still used in Season 1. Since Season 2, the devices exist primarily because they also work when there are no cell towers nearby. This was the case in Panama in Season 2 and is now also the case in Season 3 in Canada, as the making-of of the series reveals. The transmitter is the only way to communicate with the team.
Here you can see an excerpt of the story.
The rescue team of 7 vs. Wild set out to rescue Knossi and Sascha, but the two were only sleeping
What happened when the organizing team did not receive a “Code Green” signal? When the rescue team did not receive a “Code Green” signal for too long at the base camp, they presumably set out for the missing team. Knossi told us in his stream about the “rescue” from his perspective:
“I thought I was dreaming all of a sudden, KNOSSI-SASCHA-KNOSSI-SASCHA-KNOSSI-SASCHA!” When Knossi was woken up, a light inferno is said to have played out before his eyes. “You didn’t press! You didn’t press!” a rescuer is said to have shouted at Knossi.
How did the situation end? Knossi is said to have tried to calm the rescuers by confirming to them that both were doing well. “We are alive, we are alive, I tell them, we are alive, we are alive, yes, we are alive, we are alive […]” Knossi is said to have shouted to the rescuers. His partner Sascha Huber is also said to have been overwhelmed by the situation. Influencer Knossi does not reveal an exact ending to this event, but ultimately it did not lead to an elimination.
In this case, the security concept seems to have worked well, and in case of emergency, the team would likely have been rescued. In another case, however, Knossi was disappointed by the production company.
