What is 7 vs Wild? 7 vs Wild is a survival show by YouTuber Fritz Meinecke, which has been broadcast on YouTube since 2021. In the first two seasons, 7 participants had to endure alone in the wilderness for 7 days.
For the third season, a few changes have been made, including 7 pairs instead of 7 individual participants. The show is also no longer supposed to be aired on Fritz Meinecke’s YouTube channel.

- Producer Fritz Meinecke is starting for the third time and brings Survival Mattin into his team. The outdoor YouTuber Survival Mattin was already part of season 1.
- The “Nature Sons” Andreas Schulze and Gerrit Rösel
- Andy and Gerrit share their enthusiasm for the wilderness on YouTube. The native Berliners love nature and (survival) life in the forest (via steady).
- Jens “Knossi” Knossalla and Sascha Huber
- Knossi has already been seen in the survival show 7 vs. Wild and was previously the number 1 on Twitch. His teammate is athlete Sascha Huber, whose YouTube channel focuses on fitness. He has also participated in the survival format before.
- Kevin “Papaplatte” Teller and Dominik “Reeze” Reezmann
- The Twitch streamer Papaplatte was surprised with the invitation to the show during his vacation in Madeira. His team is completed by Reeze, a streamer, podcaster, and YouTuber. Together they run the podcast “Edeltalk”, where Papaplatte recently talked about a peculiar sexual adventure.
- Max “Trymacs” Stemmler and Wieland “Rumathra” Welte
- Trymacs is known for crazy events like the “No Food Challenge” and his many in-game purchases in Clash Royale and FIFA, where he spent over €80,000. He even once created his own survival format and had to master nasty challenges. The Twitch streamer Rumathra founded a German server for the survival MMO Rust and made the game the largest game in German-speaking Twitch in a short time.
- Joey Kelly and Andreas Kieling
- Joseph “Joey” Kelly is a musician known as a member of the pop and folk band The Kelly Family. In his youth, he started training in kickboxing. He also took part in various sporting competitions thereafter. Andreas Kieling is a documentary filmmaker focusing on nature, animal, and adventure topics.
- Hannah Assil and Ann-Kathrin “Affe auf Bike” Bendixen
- Hannah Assil describes herself on her website as “a nature mediator with body and soul”. She has completed training as a national park ranger and mountain hiking guide in Tyrol. She has also acted for almost 20 years and lived in Budapest for 10 years. Ann-Kathrin Bendixen states on her website that she has been on a motorcycle tour for 2 years. Her name “Affe auf Bike” originated from bullying experiences in school – she was called Dumbo and Monkey due to her floppy ears. “In your face, haters,” says Ann-Kathrin.
Even Twitch celebrity MontanaBlack was approached but declined, as he “doesn’t have the balls to do it”.
Info on the start and location of 7 vs Wild
When does the third season of 7 vs Wild start? The third season of the survival show is supposed to air in November or December 2023 on YouTube (via Rheinische Post). There will also be a YouTube channel created specifically for the format.
Where is 7 vs Wild filmed? In a YouTube video, Fritz Meinecke explained the new team-based format of the survival show in April and revealed the new location of the upcoming show: Canada.
While season 1 was filmed in Sweden and season 2 in Panama, the participants of the third season of 7 vs Wild will go to British Columbia (Canada), which borders Alaska.
These are the changes for the third season:
- There will be no more “games”; the focus is on survival
- All participants receive the same sleeping bag and a water bottle which they can fill according to their needs – even with knives or flint
- The participants now compete in 7 pairs, which they determine themselves
- The third season is supposed to last 14 days, which is twice as long as the previous seasons
Who is behind 7 vs Wild?
Fritz Meinecke is a German web video producer from Magdeburg. Over 2.7 million people follow his survival and bushcrafting adventures on YouTube. In 2022, Meinecke came under criticism several times.
What caused Fritz Meinecke to face criticism? The producer of the survival show 7 vs Wild made a sexist comment towards a woman during a cycling tour in Hungary and used her face for a thumbnail of one of his videos.
For his comment and the use of the photo, he received criticism.
However, he apparently got annoyed by this criticism and vented on Instagram about the “softened do-gooders”. When asked why he is “always so toxic”, he reacted with a broadside against everything and everyone.
In an Instagram story, he wrote in response to the question that he often holds back immensely, because if he really expressed what he thinks, he would be banned everywhere. The word “shitstorm” would “reach a new level.”
“This completely softened do-gooder society gets on my nerves so much. […] Always politically correct,” said Fritz Meinecke.
