In the new episode of the “Behind the Scenes” format of the survival series 7 vs. Wild, the final contents of the participants’ bottles were revealed. For a long time, the items that the teams would take into the wilderness were kept secret. However, the community finds the implementation unloving and criticizes mistakes.
What is the problem with the bottle contents? A new feature in 7 vs. Wild: Season 3 are the rules regarding the items that participants could take into the wilderness. In Season 3 of the survival YouTube show, all candidate teams are allowed to take a bottle full of items with them on their survival holiday. Only what fits in the bottle is allowed.
In the lead-up to the series, the participants tinkered and tested for weeks to find the perfect contents for their bottle. Most teams document this search for the perfect bottle for their YouTube fans in videos with millions of views.
The teams reacted to each participant’s ideas and copied particularly good ideas, so the fans were eagerly waiting for the final results in Canada, wondering what would ultimately be in the bottle?
But the final bottles were not introduced in the main series as expected before the airing of the episodes on Freevee began.
One of the participants of Season 3 is the Twitch streamer Jens “Knossi” Knossalla. You can see more about him in our video.
Knossi: “No one filmed my bottle packing!”
Why was the bottle content not visible in the main series? Knossi reveals to us in his reaction to the “Behind the Scenes” Episode 3 that the packing of his bottle was not filmed by the production at all. Due to the crisis at 7 vs. Wild: Season 3 the teams had to leave abruptly at night, as Knossi reveals.
“We are leaving, pack the bottle quickly,” said Fritz Meinecke, the founder of 7 vs. Wild, according to Knossi. Due to this last-minute decision, the bottle contents were probably not filmed for all teams.
Knossi revealed that he and his teammate Sascha Huber filmed the contents of their bottle in the wilderness on-site, but production likely decided against showing it.
How was the secret of the bottles revealed in “Behind the Scenes”? In the “Behind the Scenes” format, the contents of the bottles were finally shown at the very end of the episode. The whole thing was only presented as a listing, and neither individual items nor the bottle itself were filmed.
In the list, items double up; for example, both Papaplatte and Reeze have firesteel listed twice. The presentation seems unloving, especially because the candidates had put in a lot of effort beforehand to develop the perfect bottle.
The episode featuring insights into the items runs as usual on YouTube. You can watch it here:
Why are viewers heavily disappointed? The viewers of 7 vs. Wild: Season 3 were heavily disappointed with the presentation of the bottles, especially because the presentation was a significant fan concern, and they hoped for an extra episode just about the bottles.
The community on Reddit expresses disappointment about the setup and the poor fan service.
Ite2616: “The “bottle introduction” seemed more like something quickly thrown in because it was demanded by the community. It could have been explained much better.”
annix1204: “[…] these lists also seemed hurried, like when you quickly copied your homework during the 5-minute break back then.
Strange double mentions appeared multiple times in the lists, raising the question of whether the participants actually had certain items twice. Some items were listed like:
- Chainsaw & chainsaw, sharpening stone & sharpening steel, tape & gaffer tape, or seine & fishing net.”
Pyr0blad3: “Honestly: To hype the bottle contents in the title and then have less than 4 minutes for the introduction + most of it is in text form is simply bad. Sorry, then they could have just left it (in the video title).”
After being kept secret by the production for so long as to why the bottles were not shown, this result is disappointing for fans of the show. It remains to be seen whether there will be an extra “Behind the Scenes” episode on the topic of bottles, but after Knossi’s statements, the chances seem poor.
This is not the first time that 7 vs. Wild Season 3 receives criticism, especially the poor image quality on Freevee was a trigger for criticism.
