The first episode of 7 vs. Wild has started, and the participants must quickly get accustomed to the cold of New Zealand. The big change this year, besides the group suspension, is probably the loot that is scattered everywhere.
Attention: This article contains spoilers for 7 vs. Wild Season 4 Episode 1.
How did the suspension go? The series starts with an animated plane crash that introduces the scenario of the new season. The participants reach the plane wreck by helicopter while blindfolded. Upon arrival, they are met by series founder Fritz Meinecke, who first explains the scenario. We have already summarized all the information about the new season for you in advance.
After a brief Q&A, Fritz Meinecke bids farewell to the group. The participants are left to their own devices for 14 days, and they must gather their equipment themselves this time.
One of the participants of 7 vs. Wild is LetsHugo, you can learn more about him in our video:
7 vs. Wild with loot and inventory
What is the deal with the loot? Due to the plane crash scenario, the participants have only brought their own clothing to New Zealand this year. They need to find equipment on-site. Right from the start, the participants raid the airplane. There, they discover a kind of axe (breaching tool), sleeping bags, water containers, and medical supplies.
What does that have to do with a survival game? Every item from civilization that the participants “loot” is displayed on the screen. This strongly resembles survival genre games, as an inventory is also displayed.
After the participants have dismantled the interior of the plane, the inventory with all collected “items” is displayed for the viewer. Items found without the camera running are also shown to the audience through an overlay.
But there is loot not only in the airplane but also in the surroundings. However, to find the loot in the environment, the candidates need a cassette player or a lot of luck.
Some of the scenes that occurred in the first episode were shown in the trailer:
Lost Luggage and Secret Radio Messages
What do you need a cassette player for? In the scenario, the plane lost luggage during the crash that contains useful “items” that the participants can use. However, the participants do not know which items can be found.
These items are scattered around the area. To discover them, the founding father of 7 vs. Wild, Fritz Meinecke, has recorded so-called radio messages on cassettes. The participants can listen to these messages using a cassette player, which will give them clues about the location of the lost luggage.
In the episode, survival expert Joe Vogel also finds the dead mailbox. In it, the participants can secure their full storage cards and exchange their damaged equipment without coming into contact with the organization team. The first radio message was also found there in the mailbox.
Did anything interesting happen in the first episode? The participants primarily focused on building the airplane into a shelter. The characters in the group dynamic were particularly noticeable. While some worked as a team, ex-soldier Stefan Hinkelmann from Survival_Deutschland distanced himself from the group several times.
He discovered a forest, which later athlete Flying Uwe also found, where it was much warmer among the trees than at the plane. However, Hinkelmann has not yet been able to convince the group to set up camp there instead.
It remains to be seen if the participants will change their sleeping place in the next episode. The radio message will probably not be played until episode 2, as the first episode of the new season ends here.
