7 unwritten laws from Destiny 2 – Do you adhere to all of them?

7 unwritten laws from Destiny 2 – Do you adhere to all of them?

5. Someone has to place a raid banner

Raid banners can be found in many PvE activities. The flags recharge all abilities, including supers, and provide full ammo for all weapons.

Being equipped this way is incredibly helpful. But who sets up such a banner, after all, each flag costs some of your own resources (but not much).

Often, no one dares to do it first, and after a bit of hesitation, three Guardians then directly place the flag… a classic. So selflessly place a banner first, your good example will surely inspire your teammates to do the same in the next phase.

Please wait after placing a banner until everyone has activated the flag before rushing to the boss.

This is otherwise mandatory in raids:

  • You bag boxes, dance in front of them, or activate your super. It’s not scientifically proven, but legend has it that this increases the exotics chances immensely.
  • The first death during a raid run must be acknowledged with a “That’s it for Flawless”. Whether the one who died first says it or a cheeky member of the team is irrelevant. But someone should note the first wipe.
  • New Guardians must be sacrificed in raids: In almost all raids, there are nasty portals or similar that simply kill you upon activation. Freshies must at least once run into such a trap as initiation.

6. Rule: Whoever is AFK the longest gets shoved off the map

If someone leaves in the middle of a raid or other group activities for a while, they must be punished, right? In Destiny 2, team members can’t really kill each other, but there are other means.

Run or slide against the Guardian who is occupied in real life until they fly off the map. Alternatively, you can also shoot the forced pauser continuously. Who knows, perhaps their controller will fall off the table due to the rumble function – no, scratch that “tip”.

One must not confuse the act of shoving AFK Guardians off the map with the voluntary jumping off the map in the Trials.

7. Rule: Keep your feet still when fighting a boss

In the battle against raid bosses, 6 Guardians are crowded into a tight space. Everyone wants to stand in the well and deal extra damage. Because how embarrassing is it to be the Guardian with the least damage during the wipe?

As everyone is busy dealing high damage, they often don’t pay attention to each other. Thus, one might run a little to the left, dodge to the right, and bam, you hear “Guardian down” already.

You ran in front of your colleague’s rocket launcher or blocked their 1000 Voices. You zippy Guardians might not be affected, but your colleague could hurt themselves with their weapons. If that is then paired with not reviving, it is doubly frustrating.

Even if one does not die, another Guardian in front of the sniper’s scope is rather hindering. So try not to be in the way in the chaos and keep your eyes open.

“Don’t stand between the Gjallarhorn and its loot!”

Golden Rule: Be nice to child Guardians, you were once one

You knew this moral lesson was lurking somewhere on this list. To ensure no one misses it, we have chosen it as the crowning conclusion and placed it above the other 7 rules.

New players are eternally grateful for your help.

You surely remember your first jumping puzzle that a stranger showed you. Or well-meaning Guardians who seemingly shot wildly at hard-to-reach spots, where you then found a secret or lore item.

Such experiences make up the great community of Destiny – so be a part of it!

To illustrate the process from child Guardian to grown-up Guardian, here’s a video:

These were the most popular laws that all Guardians should adhere to, even if they are not officially documented.

One could certainly expand the list even more:

  • If a teammate uses their super, let them have the kills. They create valuable orbs for you, and everyone has the right to enjoy using their strongest ability undisturbed.
  • If something weird happens in the Tower, everyone joins in. If a flash mob of dancing Guardians is happening in the social space, join in the dance. No one really knows why this happens, but Guardians are silly pack animals.
  • Keep your hands off other players’ Warsat cells. This was even more important last season, but the strong mini-nukes should only be triggered by the respective build users. Otherwise, you destroy their “loop” and you don’t have the proper mods for it anyway.

What do you think of the rules listed here? Do you follow them diligently or do you like to make exceptions? Do you have other laws that Guardians should adhere to, but often unfortunately don’t? Let us know in the comments.

We do not want to dictate how you should play, but these are the most popular Guardian classes: The best class in Destiny 2 – This is how you decided in 2021
