When thinking about the movies from the MCU and the Avengers, many probably think directly of Iron Man or Tony Stark. However, in the Marvel Universe, he is often not a shining hero. Throughout his stories, he also behaved quite cruelly and terribly.
How was this list created? In the following list, we present 7 events and decisions made by Tony Stark that show that he is often not a good hero, but rather a really bad person. We refer to stories from the comics and sometimes also from the MCU.
As is common in comics, there are different variants and universes of characters. Therefore, not all of these things were done by the same Tony Stark. However, it can be highlighted that Tony Stark is often portrayed as a questionable character.

1. He ruined Spider-Man’s life
In the MCU, Tony Stark is the big idol of Spider-Man. He also regularly gets new technology from Stark Industries. Just in the movie Civil War, one can already question whether it is morally good to pull a minor into a fight where one of Tony’s friends even suffered serious injuries.
In the comic for Civil War, this is taken to the extreme. There, Tony and Steve Rogers argue about whether superheroes should be officially registered. Initially, Spider-Man is on Tony’s side and shows his face publicly. In the end, this leads to the villain Wilson Fisk setting a sniper on Peter’s family, shooting Aunt May, who then ends up in a coma.
Apart from these events, Tony spied on Peter and also manipulated his suit. In the course of Civil War, Peter then changes sides after seeing what Tony has done. As will be evident later on this list, Tony behaves quite cruelly in Civil War (via Marvel Database).
