This is combined with good gunplay: all weapons feel different, and there are many gadgets that fit meaningfully into the gameplay.
Aside from the campaign, there are dynamic and extremely fun online battles characterized by fairly designed maps and many different modes. Additionally, the progression system is much more extensive than in the first part.
This is less successful: Graphically, Titanfall 2 is no longer up to date. The story is engagingly presented but offers a clichéd story about a soldier. The characters and the villain also remain dull and uninteresting.

The game is visually stunning and the world is filled with details and great landscapes: Sometimes you are traversing snow-covered valleys, and sometimes you walk through a harsh steppe landscape. The story is also well staged, which is also due to the fact that the game is excellently dubbed in German. The visuals and story are combined with a well-crafted RPG component and a thoughtful crafting system.
We consider Horizon Zero Dawn to be one of the best post-apocalyptic games of 2019 and 2020. And it’s not just us who are thrilled by the game: our colleagues from GamePro also describe Horizon Zero Dawn as “a must-buy for PS4 owners”.
This is less successful: After the player gets to know Aloy in a great tutorial, the game loses quite a bit of momentum for a while. Only after about a third of the game does the story regain its pace. Also, the normal difficulty level is much too easy. Experienced players should directly choose a higher difficulty among the four levels. It’s also unfortunate that there isn’t an influence system for factions like there is in other games.
Who is the game suitable for? Horizon Zero Dawn is worth it for all players who want to experience an exciting, gripping story. The mix of Stone Age and high-tech is unique in its form.

God of War III Remastered

What is God of War III Remastered? God of War III Remastered is the remake of the 2010 PS3 game. In part 3, you once again take on the role of Kratos as he carves through Greek mythology on his quest for revenge. Graphically, a lot has changed, but the gameplay remains faithful to the Remaster.
Why the game is worth it: Even today, God of War III offers excellent hack-and-slash action with the Remastered Edition, paired with a great soundtrack and excellent German voice actors. The staging is still impressive, and the story is excitingly told.
From a gameplay perspective, the game combines various weapons and special attacks with interesting puzzles and flying sequences where you ride a Pegasus. In general, you are mostly engaged in battles against dozens of enemies at the same time.
This is less successful: The game shows that it comes from the PS3 era: Despite the remaster, some regions appear very plastic and look rather lifeless for the player. Occasionally, some ugly textures disturb the overall picture. The game also carries a few remnants from the past: areas must be visited multiple times and the game overall plays very linearly. In addition, there are comparatively few different enemies in the game, which can become boring over time.
Who is the game worth it for? God of War III is worth it for anyone who has played the old PS3 game and also for newcomers. The game’s staging is still convincing today, largely due to the great soundtrack.

Star Wars Battlefront II

Why the game is worth it: Graphically, Battlefront II offers you the best of what you can currently get in terms of Star Wars: The setting looks fantastic, and it’s fun to run over planets or fight in space, accompanied by a bombastic soundtrack. The controls are intuitive and precise, and there is plenty for players to do with numerous modes and different characters.
After heavy criticism, the developer fundamentally revised the game and made many improvements. Essential game components that are important for battles are no longer tied to random drops in loot boxes. Changes have been made in other areas as well, so that Battlefront II has now reached the state it should have been in at launch.
This is less successful: The announced campaign is short and rather disappointing. The AI does not perform well on either side, and many enemies look the same in battles. The matchmaking still throws beginners in with professionals, and the Star Wars shooter does not fully utilize its potential.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoy shooter action and have a heart for Star Wars, you can’t go wrong with Battlefront II. The microtransactions that once caused so much trouble and frustration have been completely revised and are now considered fair by most players. Additionally, SWBF II received its last update, with which the developers’ vision is now complete.

Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom

Why the game is worth it: Ni No Kuni 2, like its predecessor, features beautiful graphics and a fantastic soundtrack. No wonder, as the music is composed by Joe Hisaishi, who has composed music for almost every Ghibli production.
From a gameplay perspective, the game is immensely motivating. In addition to dozens of quests, you build your own kingdom. There is also a nice strategy mode: Here you lead small armies into battle. In contrast to its predecessor, Ni No Kuni 2 opts for an action-oriented combat system instead of a turn-based system.
You do not need to know the predecessor to play, but some places will feel familiar, such as Katzbuckel.
This is less successful: If you enjoy playing RPGs, you may find Ni No Kuni 2 overall to be significantly too easy. While the difficulty increases as the game progresses, it never becomes challenging. Also, when building your kingdom, you are never under time pressure.
It’s also unfortunate that some side quests cannot maintain the quality of the rest of the game: simple fetch quests are required from you. Additionally, the characters aside from the main ones lack depth.
Who is the game suitable for? If you liked the predecessor, you will also enjoy part 2, even though some things have changed compared to the predecessor. Also, RPG fans will get their money’s worth. Just for the setting and the fantastic soundtrack, it’s worth taking a look at the world of Ni No Kuni 2.

Why the game is worth it: Along with a captivating and wonderfully staged story surrounding the hero Nathan, the game offers many interesting characters and a believable game world. Additionally, there are climbing sequences and puzzles to solve, and the battles are dynamic and well crafted. Technically, the trilogy provides you with high-resolution textures and a stable frame rate of 60 FPS on the PS4.
This is less successful: The trilogy does not offer any multiplayer modes. Additionally, the puzzles in the games are somewhat too easy and could have been more challenging. Also, the games from the PS3 era have not aged well overall.
Who is the game suitable for? For anyone who has not played Uncharted yet and has a fondness for action-adventure games, they should definitely check out this game.

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition

What is Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition? This is a tactical RPG that relies on party combat. You can control up to 6 characters, with whom you explore the fantasy world of Eora, defeating opponents and solving puzzles. The battles occur in pausable real-time.
Why the game is worth it: Pillars of Eternity successfully rekindles the feeling of older RPGs like Baldur’s Gate or Icewind Dale. This is mainly due to the six-member party and the extensive and complex combat system. Additionally, the game is very extensive and will provide you with many hours of entertainment. The world of Eora feels cohesive and lively: thefts are punished if you tamper with the property of others, and the residents of various locations react to your reputation.
The game addresses many interesting and serious themes. The controller scheme is also praiseworthy.
This is less successful: The story has some logical gaps and some questionable decisions. Some characters also have pathfinding issues, and the battles can quickly become chaotic despite the ability to pause. It’s also a shame that the camera is fixed and cannot be rotated. On the PS4, there are also slight stutters in the gameplay.
Questionable decision?
Within the first hours of play, two party members become irretrievably lost. With the already low number of characters, this is a strange decision on the part of the developer.
Compared to Baldur’s Gate and others, the characters seem bland and lifeless, and the dialogues feel forced and lack dynamism. Additionally, Pillars of Eternity completely forgoes romances, etc.
Who is the game suitable for? If you enjoy extensive RPGs with a complex and tactical combat system, or if you have already played similar games like Pathfinder: Kingmaker, then you should definitely check out Pillars of Eternity.
