A few days ago, the space MMO EVE Echoes was released for Android and iOS. MyMMO editor Alexander Leitsch has tried the game for you and collected some tips to make the entry easier.
What are these tips? A few days ago, I started EVE Echoes, the mobile MMO of EVE Online, and have already given you an insight into my experiences. In doing so, I made some beginner mistakes that I would like to prevent you from making.
That’s why I’ve put together 7 tips that are especially intended to help beginners.

I am aware that many contents of EVE Echoes go in-depth and that the game is very complex. The more I learn about the game, the more I will share with you. It is therefore possible that additional tips will be added over time.
Bloodlines and factions do not play a major role
At the beginning of the game, you have the choice between different factions and bloodlines. Before I created a character back then, I thought a lot about which faction and line it should actually come from.
Although there are different focuses on the skills at the beginning, depending on what faction you chose, it doesn’t matter much in the mid-game.
The bloodline itself is just a role-playing aspect. So just choose the one that appeals to you the most.
Choose a play style and skill it
When I started EVE Echoes, I first skilled what was immediately shown to me in the menu. And that was military skills. However, I see myself less in battles and more in the sector of industry and mining.
While it is important to learn skills at first to increase your technological value, it is still useful to decide early on which play style you want to pursue at the beginning.
I regretted that I “mis-skilled” at the beginning and used all skill points to advance frigate construction. By the way, this is another tip:
- You can use your skill points so that you don’t have to wait the full time to learn something new.
Systems have different security levels
The world in EVE Echoes is vast, and each system has a different security level. These security levels are marked with colors and values:
- 1.0 to 0.5 (green) – High security, fewer special resources
- 0.4 to 0.1 (yellow) – Medium risk, medium resources
- 0.0 to -1.0 (red) – High risk, rich resources
This knowledge is important when you are moving through space and considering where to establish your base station.
Start earning money early
In EVE Echoes, almost everything revolves around earning money (called ISK in the game). You need money for production, new ships, new equipment, and even to pay marketplace fees.
At the beginning, there are four simple methods to earn money. You can
- complete missions
- engage in mining
- fight NPCs
- buy and sell
Especially at the beginning, missions are very important. You can find them directly in the menu and, depending on their difficulty, they give you different amounts of money. They are ideal for buying weapon upgrades or a MK3 miner, depending on which play style you have chosen.
Later on, trading and production become more important for earning a lot of money. However, battles where you can earn ISK in the form of bounties alongside loot remain lucrative as well.
Sell your items properly
The market in EVE Echoes plays an important role. However, each station has its own offers. So make sure to look for cheap offers when buying, even if they are in distant stations and cost time at first.
Conversely, you can also benefit when selling if good offers are far away. You can easily outbid them, and if buyers are a bit lazier, they will still accept your offer since they are already at the right station.
Find the right ship for your wishes
EVE Echoes offers you a variety of ships. But each ship comes with different bonuses. And since every player has different preferences, it’s important to find out which ship suits you best.
You can get a good insight in the ship tree. All ships of the respective factions are listed there. Click on them, check the corresponding bonuses, and work towards the ship that fits you best.
The game is much more fun in a corporation and with friends
I spent my first hours playing the MMO alone. But that wasn’t very smart. After all, you can benefit from a good corporation. Not only do these players help you with questions in chat, but you can also team up with them to take down enemies, complete missions, or engage in PvP.
At the start, I applied to various corporations. There is a sorting function that allows you to search for German groups, which also have the setting “casual”. However, please note that you are not directly notified when your application is accepted.
You need to actively check your applications and then confirm the acceptance and thereby your membership in the corporation again. I overlooked this at the beginning.
