The demo of Outriders lets you play the first chapter of the story, but some things remain unclear. MeinMMO shows you 7 things that are not explained or are poorly explained in the demo, but you should know.
This is in the demo: Within the first chapter, you can reach level 7 and unlock World Tier 5. You can try all four classes of Outriders, create your first builds, and familiarize yourself with the mechanics.
However, some of these mechanics are not adequately explained. In this special, we want to present you with some details that remain unclear in the Outriders demo.
Attack is the best defense
What does that mean? Outriders is theoretically a cover shooter. However, the cover system is not a central gameplay factor, as it is in The Division.
Cover is more like a sort of protection for emergencies. Because the shooter is clearly geared towards aggressive behavior through the healing mechanics of the classes, where you need to push forward.
Therefore, use cover only when absolutely necessary. Familiarize yourself with the healing abilities of your chosen class and adjust your play style accordingly.
For example, the Technomancer can generate health by dealing damage with weapons and skills, while the Trickster can restore health points through melee kills.
Awards and customization menu
How does it work? With the awards, there are numerous in-game challenges in Outriders that you can complete at various levels.
These include various tasks such as killing a certain number of enemies with a specific weapon or a specific skill.
By completing these awards, you unlock various cosmetic customization options, such as gestures or new looks for your flag.
Where can I find these customizations? You simply need to select the customization menu in your menu at the top right of the screen.
Epic gear was in the demo, but was patched out
What is epic gear? As known from loot shooters, gear in Outriders has different rarity levels:
- Normal (Gray)
- (Green)
- Rare (Blue)
- Epic (Purple)
- Legendary (Gold)
With each level, weapons and armor pieces get better and additional properties. In the demo, you can normally collect common to rare gear pieces.
Up until the last update for the demo, you could occasionally buy epic (purple) gear from the gear vendors in the game.
These have two mod slots and are therefore significantly more powerful than rare gear, which only has one slot.
Even though epic gear has been removed, some legendary weapons still exist: 10 legendary weapons that you can farm in Outriders now and why you should do it.
Equipment can be moved between characters
How does it work? If you have been in the stash, the HUB of the demo, you may have already noticed the supply stash.
Although this function is still locked, in the finished game, you can store your armor and weapons there and move them between your characters.
It is currently unclear to what extent gear is class-specific. At least weapons can presumably be used by any class. Whether resources such as scrap (the currency in Outriders) or titanium can also be transferred is currently unknown.
Unlocking mods for crafting
How does it work? Starting from the rare level (Blue), weapons and armor have modifications that give them special properties.
You can dismantle this gear to use the respective mod for modifying other equipment.
In the demo, the workbench needed for crafting is not yet unlocked, but you can check whether you already have a mod. You can recognize this by a symbol (a square with four other squares inside) with which the respective mods are marked:
Dismantling also yields shards
What are shards? You recognize these by a symbol that marks a certain value on weapons.
If you dismantle this gear, you will receive the shard and can also use it later in the game for crafting and modifying gear.
Shards can be any values, from life drain to critical hit chance. This is what the symbol looks like:
Technomancer can place skills precisely
How does it work? The Technomancer has two skills in the demo that need to be placed on the map with his mine and turret.
There is a trick that significantly increases the utility of the skills. By holding the corresponding skill button, you can precisely determine where you want to position your mine or turret.
This is what it looks like in the game:
Why is this important? If you just press the button, it’s very difficult to determine where your mine or turret will land. So hold the button for a second longer to use the skills tactically.
In our guide, MeinMMO has summarized several tips for the Technomancer: The Technomancer is the all-round class, but how do you play it?
Do you find the things listed above helpful? Do you have further tips or are there other things that are unclear to you? Write them in the comments.
