New World was released 3 weeks ago, and since then, hundreds of thousands of players have shared their experiences with the MMO. There has been a lot of praise, but also criticism. We at MeinMMO have looked at the current biggest problems that Amazon urgently needs to address.
What are these problems? In this article, we will primarily address issues that are already present in the game. These bugs and problems should be resolved as quickly as possible, as they lead to a negative player experience and often much frustration.
However, we consciously exclude the desire for new features, such as new weapons, a greater variety of enemies, or new endgame areas. These are also problems, but Amazon has a bit more time for those.
We have either experienced these problems ourselves or discussed them with players who have been confronted with these issues.
The false reporting of players
What is the problem? One of the biggest problems in New World currently is the automatic banning of players. This is particularly used in wars for territories. A hostile player gets reported en masse as a cheater and then receives a 24-hour ban.
Although Amazon insists that they do not ban automatically, dozens of guilds report that up to 50 players have been banned, but after 24 hours they could resume playing normally.
Due to the fact that the number of players has shrunk so much, some guilds subsequently lost the wars. And those are an important part of the endgame.
What does Amazon say? There is no explanation from support regarding the bans, as the unbanning usually happens before the tickets are processed.
We are still waiting for an official statement from Amazon regarding the false reports.
Bugs in the endgame that impede progress
What is the problem? If you are engaged in PvE in New World, you can admire the occasional bug, such as when dungeons suddenly crash, the map no longer displays quest markers, or mobs appear in a completely different location than indicated in the quest.
The errors become particularly problematic in the endgame. Currently, the Azoth Staff is bugged at level 5. Therefore, no Corrupted portals of level 55+ can be completed.
However, they are needed for some quests and good equipment. Additionally, you can only craft the keys for the high-level dungeons through them. The bug thus blocks important parts of the game.
What does Amazon say? A fix for the Azoth Staff is supposed to be included in the new patch 1.0.3. Whether this works will be determined after the server down. However, the bug persisted in the game for at least 3 weeks.
A poor auction house
What is the problem? The auction house of New World is considered extremely poor by many. Many important options are missing, such as the ability to display recently searched items and the ability to sort items for sale. Currently, they are simply listed alphabetically.
Additionally, the auction house occasionally resets unexpectedly. For example, it scrolls up when selling an item.
The sorting function is also criticized. For equipment, for example, you cannot filter by specific attributes, and for the sold items, you do not see the most recently sold items, but rather a random sorting.
Some even make fun of the fact that the large shipping company Amazon makes so many mistakes with something as “simple” as an auction house.
What does Amazon say? So far, there is no statement regarding the auction house in the game.
Intentional lags and glitches in wars
What is the problem? In addition to false reports, there are other methods to cheat in wars. For instance, large AoE effects are used to cause lags, making it impossible for the opposing faction to secure victory.
A new trend is also an invulnerability glitch, where players remain standing at the capture points and cannot be killed. This also ruins the fights for many over territories.
What does Amazon say? A fix for the AoE lags has been implemented, but it has only partially resolved the issue. There are still lags due to animations, but they have decreased because now only the latest AoE effect from some abilities causes damage. A solution that many do not appreciate.
The invulnerability glitch is said to have been fixed with the latest update. Whether that is true will be seen after maintenance.
The right progression for healers
What is the problem? Healers aiming to level their life staff must kill enemies for this. Because healing done does not grant weapon experience.
Moreover, pure healing also denies progress in quests and loot in the open world. If you heal a teammate in the group, you gain no progress.
You thus must actively kill an enemy, which many players believe is not the role of a healer.
What does Amazon say? There is currently no statement from the developers regarding the healer issue.

Crazy and fluctuating spawn rates of mobs
What is the problem? The spawn rates of mobs vary greatly by area. There are places where enemies respawn so quickly that you can hardly loot the chest at that location.
On the other hand, there are many bosses and even general areas where the respawn rate is extremely low. You sometimes wait minutes for new enemies and even up to 10 minutes for a boss. This is especially frustrating when you also need to skin the creatures and people fight over that skin.
Overall, many consider the spawn rate to be too inconsistent.
What does Amazon say? Amazon has already worked on the spawn rates and has made bosses in the starting areas respawn faster. However, there is no concrete statement regarding the too rapid respawns.
Balance and purpose of factions
What is the problem? Factions play an important role in the wars for settlements. However, for many, it is not worth it to “boost” a weaker faction. When a new character is created, you can immediately see which faction dominates on the map and join that one. This offers bonuses in settlements and lower taxes.
Players are therefore calling for some kind of “underdog feature” to strengthen the weakest faction on the server so that it can play a role in the wars again.
In fact, many criticize that there are hardly any incentives for PvE players to join a faction at all. It makes no difference for the gaming experience, and the groups hardly differ in the lore.
What does Amazon say? Even before the release, Game Director Scot Lane told us in an interview that the balance of factions is being worked on. However, no solution has been presented yet.
What other problems are there? In the sub-reddit of New World players have gathered their biggest problems and pushed the most important ones to the top with upvotes. However, further down, there are still some additional criticisms, including:
- bugs when switching weapons
- too much loot, which slowly devalues prices in the auction house
- the still missing server transfers
- the desire for a feature to share quests
- the annoying pop-up on the map that soon a war is coming
- incorrect information on the map, such as the level of crafting stations
- a function to save builds
- a quest journal sorted by areas or with the ability to sort by oneself
- the deactivated mode Outpost Rush, which some would like to play again, but which bugged characters and kept them trapped even after a round ended
