This is a spin-off series of Z Nation. While the latter comes with a large dose of humor and creative ways of killing zombies, Black Summer is more serious in tone and thus a bit closer to The Walking Dead.
Black Summer tells the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse in the city of Denver. Fear and panic reign among the population, and people try to snag one of the contested spots on a military truck that brings them to safety. In the chaos, mother Rose is separated from her daughter and does everything to see her again.
